West Plains in a district with Marshfield and CJ. Away from Rolla.

Strafford managed to stay class 3. Thought they might bump up to 4.

Thayer dropped down to class 2 and go east. They could be in for a big run this year.

Any other noteworthy things?

same with Thayer. Boys class 3. GIrls class 2. Their boys have to be irritated. Class 3 will be tougher for them. They may have won class 2 title.

Class 3 and 4 went from 195 schools down to 179 and they shoved them down to class 2. The cutoff for class 2 has gone from 144 in 2021 to 175 this year. Class 3 went from 101 last year to 90. I guess whatever it takes to keep Strafford class 3. Just kidding. When they change things to benefit certain schools it just all looks shady to me.

Chadwick and South Iron in same district. That will be a tough class 1 district

Do they have someone on the committees? ;)

How do they have boy and girls at the same school in different classes when your class is determined by enrollment numbers?
Because the cutoff is determined by number of schools playing the sport. Therefore cutoff by class is different between boys and girls.

Class 3 in SWMO at least has been tougher than Class 4

Not just that, there are a lot more schools that don’t have a girls team either because they don’t have the numbers, are co-oping with someone else or are sexist. (That last one is a joke, mostly)

Strafford boys went to class 4 but girls stayed class 3, I think they would have rather been class 4

Add in the private schools moving up and down due to success factor will make teams do that as well. I think California boys and girls are in different classes as well.

Ok someone explain to me how the P.B. girls are class 6 and the boys are in class 5. That can't have anything to do with how many schools have teams for both boys and and girls.

Because they no longer put all the boys and girls schools in the same district and the same classes which resulted in some smaller classes having districts with 1 and 2 teams in it. Now the boys are divided separately into classes and the girls are divided into their own classes. Which means that each year there are going to be schools that have one team in a class and another team in a lower class. Thayer is like that this year. Girls are class 2 and boys are class 3.

Or maybe it is just a conspiracy against PB. They will never host a district and they will never be in the same class again.....

the cutoff marks are different, so there are a few schools like that. Its really interesting when they are split between Class3 and Class 4. Puts Distrcts on different weeks

The P.B. girls and boys didn't play in the same district last but they were both still in the same class. This makes absolutely NO sense. Seems to me if they were trying to fix the small schools not having enough teams they would drop the girls to only 5 classes so there would be more in the smallest classes, not move a class 5 to class 6. How does that help the problem of 2 team districts?

Again it is redone every year. So it maybe different every year. Next year they both maybe in the same class.

They just separated the genders
OK so why now, they never have before? What purpose does it serve? Not asking because P.B. girls going to a higher class is gonna make any difference in the P.B. girls success or or failures, I just find it very strange.

Do you think it is good to have districts with 1 or 2 teams in it?

I just said they could help that if they drop to 5 classes for girls instead of pushing some to class 6. I don't see how that helps the problem in the lower classes. That should change the numbers for schools in the smaller classes so they would have more schools in class 1 and 2.

They have been in the same class for as long as I can remember and I've been around a LONG time. Again I ask why now?

Because things change. That is part of life. You will get over it. The world does not revolve around PB.

I've never said it does, but it happens to be where I live. I'm talking about all of girls basketball, and boys for that matter. Whatever happens will have very little affect on the P.B. girls season, not likely they could win a class 3 district right now and I don't know when it's gonna get any better but that doesn't mean that MSHSAA should screw around with classes and districts when what they're doing doesn't make anything better for anyone? You're such a smart guy maybe you can tell me how ANY of what they're doing helps the issues in class 1 and 2.

That is an easy one. It helps because they have districts with a full group of teams intead of districts with 1 or 2 teams in them. Clearly it makes it hard for a few places. But no system is perfect. Having a district with 1 or 2 teams in it is just downright dumb.

I am glad you think I am a smart guy. Let me know if I can help you with anything else.

How does moving teams up a class help the class 1 and 2 have more teams in a district? Thee fore my suggestion to eliminate the top class could hep have more teams in smaller classes.
