District Assignments

Who knows. The state does a horrible job at this. Wealth of talent in Class 1 in the state is in the SEMO area. I'm sure they are finding the best way to group all those schools in the same district to help water down the playoffs.

When will district assignments come out?
This has been a concern for awhile. Teams open their season not even knowing who will be in their District. I wonder does this happen in any other sport? You go to your first day of practice and not know who is in your district.

The district assignments will be released today (August 12), per MSHSAA.

Agree with everyone re: their handling of this, but I guess they have to wait until closer to when school actually starts so they can get more accurate enrollment numbers to determine class sizes and ultimately district assignments.

I've heard through the volleyball grapevine that Valle Catholic is dropping back down to Class 1, St. Vincent is bumping up to Class 2, and St. Pius X (Festus) is dropping down to Class 2. I guess we'll know today if these rumors were/are true!

As for the ever-powerful Class 1 teams in Southeast Missouri, Advance and Bernie will be the top contenders in the area this season. Bernie has a senior-heavy team and Advance has a lot of loaded weapons, including a pretty impressive freshman who's probably going to develop into one of the area's best hitters. It'll be interesting to see if Advance and Bernie are in the same district this season. Other perennial powerhouses in the area in Class 1, most notably Bismarck and Lesterville, will be tough again this year as well, from what I'm told. Leopold looks like they're going to have another rebuilding year this season but they, too, have a freshman stud to keep an eye on.
