Mitch has to let the senate vote on something before he can blame anyone else right now.
It is NOT their job to figure what will the president will sign and what he won't, that changes from one minuet to the next. The way this works is the house send a bill to the senate and they SHOULD have vote on it and the process goes on from there. That is NOT what is going on up there right now. They sent a bill to the senate that had the same amount of money in it that the senate had very recently voted for. Now Mitch won't allow them to vote again. Why should either the house or the senate give him MORE money right now when he hasn't been able to spend the nearly 2 billion he got last year? When he uses that money they can talk about it again in next year's budget fight.
There wasn't a vote in the Senate on legislation. There was no unanimous vote regarding immigration or the border in the Senate. The Senate did have the votes needed to pass a bill IF TRUMP AGREED TO IT.
There is no point in voting on a bill that probably wouldn't pass knowing Trump won't sign it and they would never have the votes to over ride a veto.

When the Republicans had a majority in the Senate and a majority in the House, and a “Republican” in the WH - no compromise was needed, but still no wall. Please explain that.
He didn't have all the pubs on board with it. Just because a Republican president wants something, doesn't mean all the pubs will fall in line.

Approximately half the country voted for him and it was no campaign secret that he wanted a wall. It's not some small subsection that wants it.
He also said Mexico was going to pay for it. Maybe some believed him, hence the vote for him.
If we spend $5.7 billion for the first installment, where is the money for healthcare, infrastructure, education, etc., going to come from? Can’t cut taxes and then turn around and spend, spend, spend. Econ 101.
I'd be the first to say that military spending should be cut and if Trump does go the state of emergency route to get funding it should come out of the defense budget.
Furthermore, 5 billion is a drop in the bucket.

There are DOZENS of things we spend that much on. Very few of them are loved by a majority. The cost is the only excuse libs can use to keep the borders unsecured while claiming they want them secure. Their BIGGEST fear is that a wall would actually work (because walls work).
I don't want to ever read anything from you guys about how much our budget deficit and the national debt increased under any administration the way you talk about 5 billion dollars like it's nothing. That's how we got in this shape to start with. We'll just add few billion here and few billion there, after all it's only a small percentage of our over all budget. Well guess what, the more we spend the smaller that percentage is every time we add another 5 or 10 billion and that seems to be ok with you guys.
That is the first installment. How many $5.7’s will there be before it is more than a drop in the bucket?
Care to answer my questions concerning funds for other important things (infrastructure, education, healthcare)?
