I realize he messed up sending people to nursing homes that I guess and covid at the time. I don't get what the issue is with the death count and where it should be counted. They were in a nursing home and were sent to the hospital where they died. Their deaths were counted in the total, they were not just dropped from the count all together so the number of covid deaths is correct as far as anything I've seen or read. Why would you count them as deaths in a nursing home when they died in a hospital? If a patient in a nursing home has a heart attack or stroke and is sent to the hospital and dies they are reported as dying in the hospital, NOT in the nursing home. If I have a heart or stroke and get taken by ambulance to the hospital and die there it is NOT reported asa death in the home.

It is an interesting story for sure. The sad thing is his office with held the information so Trumps DOJ would not have ammo against him. Even the Dems are not buying it... Again just goes to show both parties are very corupt.

They were sick in a nursing home, they did not die in a nursing home. Anything I've heard about this says they were always counted in the total for covid deaths but were shown as dying in the hospital which is exactly what happened. The complaint should only be about sending people that were covid positive to nursing homes. The hospitals in NY were overrun at the time so I don't know what the answer should have been for what to do with them.It is an interesting story for sure. Dude this has nothing to do with what party I choose to a part of. I don't have any connection to Cuomo or NY in any way. My issue is people complaining about how your counted when you die. If you die in a hospital that's how it should be on the record. Anything else is just plain silly. My 87 year old dad had a stroke in his recliner in his house. An ambulance came and took him to the local hospital where he later died. I know some people in that area who had family who died in a long term care facility early in the pandemic, they were told it was not due to Covid at that time, however they are now getting conflicting information and maybe the did die of Covid? Can you say Cover up....

Growing criticism of the Cuomo administration’s data came to a crux in January, when the New York state attorney general, Letitia James, published a report estimating that officials had apparently undercounted these figures.
The state’s health commissioner, Howard Zucker, disclosed the total number of long-term care facilities in the wake of James’s report, according to the New York Post.
Zucker said there were 12,743 such deaths as of 19 January; the day prior, his department had publicly recognized 8,711 fatalities.
The US Department of Justice (DoJ) launched an inquiry into the data issue several months ago, and some portions of it had previously been revealed. This inquiry returned to the forefront in recent weeks, however, following James’ report.
Cuomo’s administration had not been cooperative with federal prosecutors, especially when the investigation began.

I know what I posted and it had nothing to with my love for Cuomo, have none, or the party. Was don't you understand about what I'm saying? My ONLY complaint is about the death count! If you die in a hospital you will be counted as such, I don't care what state you're in or what party is in control of that state. The FBI is investigating and they may charge him with all kinds of things, but I don't see how where those people died is an issue. Everybody knows they shouldn't have been in a nursing home but they did NOT die there! The question is not about if they died and were counted, the question is if they died of covid in a nursing home hid the numbers for weeks and those numbers later showed up under hospital deaths. Again this is not about a person dying in a long term care facility and it being reported as dying in a hospital... there is a lot more, they hid those numbers for weeks sometimes months then possible reported them as dying in the hospital.
What Cuomo did is wrong. I am not sure about all the details, but I have seen enough to know he wasn't 100% honest on the numbers and he could have saved lives by being open about how bad it was and what policies were working and what was not. The number of lives that could have been saved if all officials had not played politics with the pandemic is a number we will never know but it is sad. Cuomo will need to step down soon so the state can get back to focusing on the vaccine instead of rehashing what we're mistakes and what we're lies covering it up.
