If that happens...Who plays CF? And assume they'll shop Soler for an arm?You can most likely scratch off Soler. He's probably headed to Cleveland or San Diego
Move Schwarber behind the plate, Bryant to LF, and insert Baez at 3B...It'd be like slow-pitch meets MLB. I'd probably watch all their games. Granted they'd probably take four hours, but it'd be fun!Check out @espn's Tweet:
I don't think Heyward is that big of a deal. Still decent options out there (Davis, UPTON!!!, or Gordo).
What would it take to get CarGo to Stl? Seems like his name pops up in July every year as a possible trade piece.
He signed for much less than the market value.....at least in total money
And he will use one of themWith two opt-outs
I checked this board just to see duck melt down.
lol Kenny. Duck you do need to relax. Everything looks bad, but we won 100 games last year. Plenty of time to build a competitive squad. In MO I trust. Time to start improving the club!!!!!! No doubt the Cubs are putting the pressure on. They are building their team off the backs of ex-Birds. The war for supremacy of the NL Central has a new front runner. Pirates have done less than the Birds, Great theater!!With two opt-outs

Cards get Gorden and he is not much of a downgrade from Heyward with fewer years and less money. Winning player
get another starter Leake or Chen
We have to live with a popgun offense
Go Birds!!!
Parra does not play defense anywhere near the level of Heyward....and is not 26
agree goin and Ducky I can panic with the best of them it's just not that time yet!Maybe not, but he's a 2x gold glover and still only 28 and last year they were comparable offensively. The kicker is that he won't cost $20+ million a year, either.
He didn't catch in the outfield either.PLLLLEEEEAASSSSSEEEEEE trade for CarGo. Just dont look at his splits before the trade
Soler moved for Ross/Carrasco/Salazar
Schwarber won't catch, probably ever again. Wilson Contreras will be the next catcher. Possibly middle of this year. For sure 2017
I'm not cheerful at all, just not willing to panic just yet. The Cubs have really put the Cards in a bind. No other sport is as much fun as baseball during their off season.Mo and Matheny have created such a wonderful culture our veteran players CHOOSE to go to the Cubs. VB your fake cheerfulness won't help you in April.
They choose to go the Cubs when the Cubs offer them more money per year and two opt outs.Mo and Matheny have created such a wonderful culture our veteran players CHOOSE to go to the Cubs. VB your fake cheerfulness won't help you in April.
Lance Berkman: "No matter what people say, it's always about the money".They choose to go the Cubs when the Cubs offer them more money per year and two opt outs.
We were outbid.
Effectively, Heyward is getting $78 M over 3 years. It's really $26 M a year for 3 years (ignoring the impacts of time value of money, as some of the signing bonus is deferred and the Cards offer is over a long period of time, too) He will hit FA again at 29 with a chance to sign another $200 M contract in a world where baseball will have even more money than it does today. He has a $106 M insurance policy if things go wrong with the last 5 years of the deal.Whatever. There are no guarantees the opt-out will pay off or he won't be injured during this contract. Not everyone is Greinke.
Per year $23 mil was more. Total, not more guaranteed.

I think he made the obvious financial decision.
yupAnd you waste a sh load of time looking that info up. Bahaha.
Heyward said he wanted to go somewhere he would have fun and make sure his family is safe? I know St.Louis has had some issues lately but you go to the north side of Chicago to keep your family safe, really?????Heyward is being paid $15 million next season
$20 million deferred bonus
$21.5 for years 2 and 3
Some very complex contract lingo for everything else. Unless he gets injured or complete forgets how to play baseball....that is his contract with Chicago
The North Side of Chicago is safe. The South Side is generally the rough partHeyward said he wanted to go somewhere he would have fun and make sure his family is safe? I know St.Louis has had some issues lately but you go to the north side of Chicago to keep your family safe, really?????
Do you know anything about the city? North is the lake and money. South is the ghetto.Heyward said he wanted to go somewhere he would have fun and make sure his family is safe? I know St.Louis has had some issues lately but you go to the north side of Chicago to keep your family safe, really?????
