Cubs are 30 games over and fans are booing Heyward.

I imagine his bank statement takes the sting off the booing. Good work if you can get it huh, 23 million a year for .226, 5 hr and 32 rbi's.

Except they paid in knowing they might get offense and WILL get the best defensive outfielder in the game

Ask guys like Kyle Hendricks if they care much about his offense. My guess is no, because he snags bloops in RF that most don't touch

Not a Cub fan, and only really watch them when they play the Cards. Of course they knew he wasn't going to hit like Hank Aaron, but dang. I know there are stats for everything, but can't imagine he is earning that big salary. Of course the Cubs can afford to pay it. Like I said, good work if you can get it.

No, he's doing poorly on offense

He's also not expected to be a cornerstone of an offense that has Bryant, Rizzo, Contreas, Zobrist, Fowler and will have Schwarber back next year.

I think he enjoys payday. He will bounce back and hit better next year. That is a lot of money.

This. They probably thought they were going to get better offense than this, but he was signed to be the best freaking defensive OF'er in the game. And he's pretty much holding up that end of the bargain. Fact is, he wasn't that great of a fit for the Birds to sign. He was the perfect fit for the Cubs to sign.
