the quality of basketball seems to be down this year. With that, of course, comes the parents in the stands yelling like morons blaming everything on refs. This year, Ive seen several players act horribly. Shoving without being provoked, cursing and threatening, looking into stands and talking to people. There was so much of it that the coaches MUST have seen it but did nothing. Is our lust for our kids success blinding us to appropriate behavior? Why do these coaches allow this? Other coaches see it and shake their heads. Some of these kids are the one being touted by ozone, newspapers as being “all state material”. Dont fool yourself into thinking college coaches overlook that because your kid can shoot or is tall. Attitude goes a long way.

I have seen a only a couple of these instances this year. Not really more or less than any other year. But definitely two that have stood out more than the rest. Curious as to where you've been watching, because I've seen a large majority of coaches that don't put up with that crap.

Mostly blue/gold and pink/white but also some St.Louis area teams (boys and girls). Ugly to see these coaches ignore it but also to see parents encouraging it from stands.

Unfortunately as a coach today if you try to correct such actions you probably won’t have a job. I think it’s worse than it’s ever been with school boards etc interfering.

Well there are coaches out there who won't tolerate it. As a neutral observer at the game, I have to give my kudos to the New Bloomfield coach for sitting his 6' 5" center 6 minutes into the championship game of the South Callaway tournament for getting a technical foul. I kept thinking at some point the coach was going to put him back in but never did. Montgomery County player also got a technical but he didn't even come out of the game immediately after technical for a little cooling off period. Different coaches, different styles.

It was a technical foul on each player after pushing and shoving and chest bumping after New Bloomfield kid was called for foul on rebound in which his arm was wrapped around the Mont Co player head. I also thought a second Mont Co player should have been T'd for coming in and chest bumping the same NB player after the first two had been separated but not sure the referees saw it.
Thing is same Mont Co player was T'd up a second time and ejected from the game for kicking the chairs after the coach subbed him out.
