GIF away everyone! To seriously answer your question I would say very unlikely. This Friday's DeSmet-CBC winner has to be considered a pretty safe favorite at this point.
No. CBC, DeSmet, a number of KC teams can stop them. But it would be great for them if they could do it.
All the way to what: CBC or DeSmet? I guess there is a third option; they could lose at home to CBC or DeSmet.

You are right Joplin is just toooo good. Maybe they should schedule 6A schools instead of 4A and 5A where they have some competition

I think Webb teams could obviously compete with class 6 around 5 to 7 years ago but not the teams of the past few years.

Joplin is geographically isolated from the rest of Class 6, with the exception of Kickapoo who is also apart of a 10 team conference, so they couldn’t schedule them if they wanted to.
They're free to schedule whoever they want for the first 9 weeks, just like everybod else.
My point being, it makes more geographic and financial sense for the school to be in a conference in closer proximity to their location. They’ve also got a multitude of other sports and trips to consider.
I’m tired of this whole “if they’d play schools their size” crap. If Joplin would have lost to Webb and Carthage, that comment wouldn’t have been made. Hahahaha. Oh well.
Joplin has lots of especially girls sports that can't even compete with the smaller schools around their area, so them playing bigger schools is a bad idea.
When Joplin was split in two high schools, and class 4A was the largest, Parkwood did just fine playing teams in this area and being one of the smallest in that class. I think the year they won it in 80 they even played Webb.

Well, by default., they have the easiest District in Class 6. Only one other team ranked in the top half of the teams in Class 6. Most of them are bottom dwellers.

On the other hand, you have district 4. Seven top 11 teams in Class 6 all in one district. Life isn't fair sometimes.

Since they are in a contracted conference their schedules are locked. I think it was a better idea for them to switch from the OC to the COC since they are competing against the better larger schools in SWMO...
CBC is always good and its their class until someone takes it. I am not sure anything about Desmet, so I wont comment on them. But the thing Joplin has going their way this is emotion and something to play for. Emotion and momentum can do lot in high school football regardless of class. They can make teams play above their abilities. Not saying it will happen all the way to a title, but Joplin has gotten better the past few years and do have something rolling in the right direction. It will be interesting how everything plays out.
