What year is it though Toots?Between 1970 and 2000, this guy would have gotten a contract extension, not a fine.
more importantly, when does the decade start? What year is it though Toots?
oh no.more importantly, when does the decade start?
I have a theory that flag football is being added to the Olympics as a test to see how it is received because the powers that be know we are headed to an eventual long term transition to basketball on turf.
I’ve wondered the same thing☝️😔I have a theory that flag football is being added to the Olympics as a test to see how it is received because the powers that be know we are headed to an eventual long term transition to basketball on turf.
A lot of boxers and MMA fighters are in the same boat, but you don’t see those sports banning punches to the head (or their athletes suing because they were punched in the head)…A lot of those guys who hit and got hit like that from that era can't walk, can't lift their arms above their heads, and have brain damage. These players are so big, fast, and strong that it's a very dangerous sport. Will always be my favorite and will always be the most popular sport in the US. You are getting to where because of money NFL teams may play 23 games, and college teams may play 15 games. I know they don't hit at practice anything like the old days, but there are more chances of getting hurt for sure.
You know those leg injuries where you can’t watch the replay because a man’s lower leg is turned in a direction it shouldn’t be headed? My son had that happen to him in a college game. He is 40 now and still has a rod in his leg. It changes your outlook.
When I see what they now call a “hip drop” tackle and it ends with the tacklers full body weight mangling a ball carriers foot from behind it makes me cringe and think there has to be another way.

You and every other boomer.I have a theory that flag football is being added to the Olympics as a test to see how it is received because the powers that be know we are headed to an eventual long term transition to basketball on turf.
Everybody has an opinion, and that's fine. Totally agree on the boxing and MMA, it is a choice. Studies have shown the dangers of head and brain injuries on kids who are already playing full pads in elementary school. I get it at 2nd grade they probably aren't hitting anybody hard enough to get hurt, but I see little league teams around our area who have a season that lasts as long or longer than the high school team's. My opinion would be not start them in pads until about 6th or 7th grade, and limit their seasons to about 6 or 7 games. Again, these NFL guys are so big and fast that the blindside, leading w the helmet, etc. type stuff, it is truly dangerous. They earn their money for sure. I think football would still be just as popular if they eliminated kickoff returns.A lot of boxers and MMA fighters are in the same boat, but you don’t see those sports banning punches to the head (or their athletes suing because they were punched in the head)…
If the risk is not worth the reward to you, don’t play the sport.
I’ve watched my son play full contact football since he was in second grade (he’s graduated now); thankfully I’ve never had to see him suffer anything worse than a single MCL sprain (not tear) in each knee and a couple of cracked ribs…
…I’d long told myself that I’d pull him after the first concussion, no if ands or buts (because the risk of further damage was simply not worth the reward).
But because we live in a world with no personal accountability for the choices people make, the solution is instead to practically eliminate kickoffs, make the quarterback un-tackleable, make receivers not only uncoverable with illegal contact rules, but also un-touchable until which time as they are no longer “defenseless”…
…you literally have commentators now saying about the “blindside block” rule “ya, you really just need to treat it like a basketball screen” (and they’re not joking!)
American football used to be special compared to the rest of the world’s sports, but the NFL is making it less and less special by the year (it’ll be flag football before you know it, and then eventually just seven on seven)
I honestly hope Rugby starts being played again at high schools and colleges (if you’ve never watched it, you’d be surprised how much more entertaining it is than the NFL)
