Coach Bowers announced his retirement from coaching after this season after 37 years, with stops at William Jewell College, Sam Houston State, Plattsburg, and as the head coach at Worth County, Albany, McDonald County, Richmond, Cameron, and back to Richmond. As his son, I couldn't be more proud of him and I have been incredibly lucky to play for him and then to coach with him. I could go on and on about his accomplishments, the numerous quarterfinal and semifinal appearances, the state championship, the Hall's of Fame, but I know I would then have to listen to him explain how it wasn't him, but the great kids and coaches he's worked with. As I've gotten older, I've realized just how well he has hired, by looking at his coaching tree. Anyways, I just wanted to publicly say congratulations and enjoy retirement, Dad!
