CofO drops NIKE after Kaepernick Deal...

C of O lost there hosting of the NAIA National championship tournament due to there stance on kneeling.

I'm sure Nike hates losing that huge deal.
They made the right decision. It is good to know that there are administrators, and schools, that make decisions based on intelligence, instead of ignorance. Hope to see more of the same.
The ignorance in this country astounds me. Well, it used to anyway.

Large, extended yawn.

How much of a hillbilly do you have to be to think the school of the ozarks dropping nike is a significant story? Bahahahahahahaha. They will never be accepted into the SEC now......

My bad. Wouldn't assume Branson chamber of commerce was happy about losing Money.

I'm trying to figure out who gives less of a shit, me or Nike.
Well look at what Nikes stock did the day that ignorant deal was announced.

I would bet a 3% drop in share value in a matter of minutes caught the attention of a few Nike executives. It has rebounded about 1% but that 2% is a lot of value gone to protest criminals getting arrested

Did you also see that in that same time frame the Adidas stock dropped 3-4% as well? As did the stock of Puma, Reebok, etc. And FWIW the Adidas stock has not rebounded like the Nike stock has.

Would you be willing to consider that maybe that stock drop might be related to tariffs we are currently incurring from countries like China and Mexico, places where most of these products are made, might have more to do with the stock drop than the ad campaign? Maybe the campaign did influence the drop, but given the drop was industry wide the campaign clearly wasn't the only factor.

Wait till tomorrow if Trump implements 200 billion more and china counters. Could be rocky day tomorrow on Wall Street

What else is China going to counter with? When you don't import much there is not a lot you can slap tariffs on.

Because China exports far more to the US than it imports, China has fewer American products it can levy tariffs on to retaliate against Trump’s further measures.

China imports only about $130 billion in US goods, but Trump has signaled he is prepared to levy tariffs on all $500 billion of Chinese products exported to the US.

The US’ first tariffs targeting $34 billion of Chinese goods went into effect on July 6. Another round of US tariffs on $16 billion of Chinese imports is set to go into effect from August 23.

On Friday, China announced new tariffs on American products ranging from 5% to 25% on $60 billion of American products, with the highest 25% duties targeting US imports that China doesn't need as much, such as liquefied natural gas, as well as consumer goods – from fishing rods to cotton skirts to condoms.

But for goods essential to industrial production, such as aircraft and automobile parts, the Chinese government says it will only charge 5% duties.

“This list is carefully crafted,” said Tommy Wu, senior economist at Oxford Economics. He added that China is still reliant on US for high-tech products, such as semiconductors.

“In the longer term, there will maybe be some substitution and they will double down on efforts to develop their own technologies in these different areas,” said Wu. “But in the short and medium term, there is no substitute for these products.”

Since it happened within minutes of the advertising campaign being announced I would say no,,,

NIKE has ALWAYS known where their bread is buttered! And it ain't with white, middle class, conservatives!

Let me get this straight... you are pissed at a school for protesting a company who is supporting an athlete who is kneeling in protest?

DUDE, you just don't realize how SCREWED this country IS! 80% of the venters on the Georgia board are supporting NIKE! But I'll bet 99% of those personas have NEVER had to defend that flag!

China can't afford to get into a trade war with the USA! Their economy is flirting with collapse as we speak!
