Why do hosting administrations get there knickers twisted when Weeb City comes to town? You know that they travel extremely well. If you don’t, you’re an idiot! Harrisonville tried to limit them a couple years ago & Willard did it last night. If you are unable to fill your home side stands, don’t get bent out of shape when WC fans spill out of the tiny visitor’s side & come sit on your side. They paid at your gate to get a seat to watch a high school football game. Provide them with enough seating or be prepared to see them take over your seats.

I've visited many different stadiums in the COC this year and I have never been told I can't set my behind in any seat I want, even at Webb City. You paid your money to get in unless they have reserved seating for booster members, you should be able to prop your behind anywhere else.

I doubt ADs care other than wanting to reduce opportunity for conflict. And in most cases it probably doesn't matter but keep in mind WC is a little different than the average visitor. If you get a ton of Webb fans spilling into the home side, especially if displacing home fans and not just taking seats that would go empty, there is a good chance for unwanted conflict. Just my casual observation but I tend to think of WC and Willard as two COC teams with more of "those" types of fans that provoke conflict. So keeping them out of each others way probably not a terrible idea!

I try to get to a Webb game at least once in a season and I always sit on the Webb side. I wonder why schools don't CASH IN on those teams--- the ones that bring the town. Seriously. Many, many schools just do NOT bring out fans anymore. I'd be looking to make up for lost income with the week these schools visited. Roll out the welcome wagon.
Why would you run out of ANYTHING in your concession stands that night and why wouldn't you be serving an extended menu?!?!

If your talking concessions Webb's is terrible, the Booster club really needs to step it up. I have been to a few Webb games over the years and sometimes they are out by halftime and the line is so long it is ridiculous to even try and get something I usually eat before going and bring a drink in. Seriously need to expand the concession stand, You would think after a decade of seeing the crowds they have had they would know how to run it by now.

I guess they are making so much bank they don't worry about the fans that leave the line, and just flat run out of product.

I hate to hear that. I always arrive early and I am usually only good for a popcorn purchase. It may be more a case of no one works as hard as they used to. I may also be naive in thinking schools even care about game revenue anymore.

Being a booster club member and former President I know revenue is big for us. We have purchased so much stuff and our football concession is a big part of the money we bring in.

Webb just may be bringing in so much money in other things that they don't worry about it as much? But with the seating they have and all the upgrades they have done to the stadium you would think concessions would be a bigger part of it.

According to State Tax Law CSR 10.003-114 we are only allowed to take in $125,000 per game through concessions. We buck the system a little by selling burgers outside the concessions putting WEBB at $131,000 per game but only $120,000 has to be reported. In 3 more seasons we will have our new indoor "J Rodriquez Practice Facility" completely paid for. 15,000 hot dogs, 12,000 cheeseburgers, 72,000 sodas, 14,000 bags of pop corn and 6 slices of bad pizza are sold and then the doors close. We apologize for any visitors not getting food. Maybe if you would allow us to sit on the home side when we travel to your stadium we will try and accommodate you more.

Visitors, I have heard the home crowd complain. I think they get in line so early for the game, just so they can be the first in line at the concessions.

Booster Club does not operate the concessions at WC. Student clubs work the concessions as a fundraiser for the club.

Did someone mention....booster clubs! I feel like I can weigh in on this topic because I have been the Booster Club President here in Ampipe for over 30 years! I know a thing or two about booster clubs. Ive seen plenty of highs and lows.

You better believe that the booster club runs the concession stands here on game day. Any school NOT taking advantage of rich schools, with a large fan base coming to town, are bozos! Whenever we play the rich pricks from Walnut Heights, we welcome them wide open coin purses! Not only do we provide them parking spaces they can reserve and pay ahead of time (ignore the fact that we "allegedly" siphon gas outta their tanks), we expand our menus! Anything to squeeze an extra buck or two out of em!

One of the most successful marketing campaigns I was ran mailing out coupons to all the Walnut Heights folks, a coupon that gave them 30% off their entire concession stand purchase. I didn't tell them that I raised ALL concession stand prices by 30% for that game though! What was the result? The highest, single game concession stand sales in Ampipe history!

Wow! I can see why you have been the president for over 30 years Bosko! You're bringing in all kind of money for Ampipe!

As I said, I know a thing or two about running booster clubs. Sounds like Webb City could learn a thing or two from me! I read earlier that in 3 seasons they will have their indoor practice facility paid for. HA! With me at the helm of their booster club, it would already be paid off!

Heck, if they had the hotdogs you have an Monett, that alone would make a difference... #qualitydogs

New Library, New Football Stadium and New and probably nicest basketball arena/ (tornado shelter) all built from hot dog sales over the last 10 years. The J Rodriquez practice facility (state FOOTBALL coaching museum) will be the envy of Missouri High School sports. We appreciate you wanting to help Bosko but will have to decline. We only accept "the Family" to handle monies...

Instead of having a problem with Webb fans, opposing teams hosting them should have a welcome committee of Bosko type boosters. Real men's men...that can show the Webbies to the BEST seats and buy them a hot dog. Maybe get their address for later when the boys do some decorating after the game.

They absolutely care about game revenue I payed 4 each to take my family to a JV freshman soccer game. Give me a break

I was just commenting when I was there a few weeks ago that I was surprised they still have not improved their concession and restroom situation. It was undersized from day one but I imagine I could look the other way too if we only lost a couple games per decade!

When I lived there back in the old stadium days I used to get so irritated that the only way you could get a decent seat was to be retired or work at a church and go get in line in the middle of the afternoon! We had to pretty much leave straight from work, drive through mcdonalds or gringos on the way and then hope to find seats in one of the bleacher sections.

Few years ago at St Marys in St Louis they asked the home fans to please bring lawn chairs so the visiting Webb fans could use what available bleachers they had. Nice people with the greatest steak sandwich in the concession stand.

I’ve never had an issue with WC fans at a game. Good bunch overall I think. Fans on this site may be a different story from time to time. I also don’t understand the animosity toward hosting WC and their fans. Maybe a little wiener envy? Sell them an extra hotdog or two and get over it. I think it really stems from getting a beatdown almost every year and a misguided hatred associated with it. I will admit, I wish I could capture what they have in a bottle and pour it out on my team, school and community.

Didn't look like the home side for Willard was full so why not let Webb fans sit over there?

how much money could schools make if they had a beer garden....LOL.

Well on second thought that just has bad Idea written all over it.
A beer garden!? Now you're talking! Ive never allowed the selling of alcohol at ANY Ampipe game in my 30 years here. Now have I provided some of the students with a little post game "refreshments" well, I guess you would have to ask them.

I'm totally certain some of it's animosity from getting beat. But there is no denying that some of the worst behavior I've seen at games over the last 10 years has been Webb fans, which surprised me at first having used to live there. I don't think it used to be that way, they used to be known as a model for respectful students and fans and while many still stick to that I just don't believe it's an accurate stereotype like it used to be. Maybe it's just a function of numbers.

It would happen ANYWHERE though. Probably a lot worse in some communities!

Most of the Webb fans I know are just like any other fans there are several good and there are always going to be a few bad. But Webb has one more type and that is a select few who seem to have a chip on their shoulder and always seem to think they are being wronged or disrespect in some way or manner by some other town or AD or booster club. This post is a perfect example. I am sure the AD's treat the Webb game and fans just like any other game, but that was not good enough for the Webb Faithful, They need or needed that special treatment.

That's all likely true but I think a small part of it is that you really can't prepare for a Webb crowd the same way you prepare for other crowds. I saw them play Ozark a few years ago and I could have put the entire Ozark crowd in a mini van. I'm sure the same thing happens (on a smaller scale per capita) for other highly successful schools. Monett has traveled well in the past I'm sure. You need those few extra dogs, awareness for seating, a few extra bodies taking money everywhere maybe an additional member of administration or two. Just seems like good business to me. Good thread.

Totally agree, you have to consider who you are playing and what might be at stake. I know our AD will discuss the crowd if he is expecting something larger than normal and tries to be prepared. We also do it at concessions.

However the issue is always finding that help seems so hard now days.

You're not kidding on that!!!

Just my take on what has been discussed here. As far as Webb’s concessions the actual concession stand is ran by teachers and students to fund different clubs thought the school, then the boosters are allowed to sell certain things, hamburgers and hotdogs and this for the booster club, then you have project grad who sells funnel cakes, and this year they have brought in another vendor Kona Ice to sell snow cones and that benefits yet another group, I think band boosters. As far as other schools accommodating Webb, well most of us understand that we travel well and most schools really can’t do much about it. There are the few who think their poo don’t stink and you should bow down to them. I wasn’t at the game last week so I can’t personally say what did or didn’t happen. But several years back we had to travel to Bolivar for a playoff game and we were specifically told we were not to be on the home side stand period. That doesn’t sit well with most people, especially Webb fans. All I can really say is most of us get it, it can still be frustrating but we do get it. Hell we have trouble getting enough help and supplies at our own games , how can we truly expect a school who will only see us once be more prepared than we are at home. All I ever expect out of a hosting school is to be treated with respect and kindness, if you can’t do that then you won’t get it in return.
