I was looking back through some preseason thoughts on the COC. Predictions overall were pretty accurate - aside from CJ. I expected CJ to take a step back to the middle of the pack but they were a legit #2.

Webb City was as advertised. I expected them to win the COC, but didn't necessarily expect a state title. I thought maybe a loss in the semi's.

Carthage finished about where I expected in COC. I figured they start 0-2 and then roll, however I did not expect the slaughtering at CJ or the semi final appearance for the Tigers this year.

Ozark - I expected them to be what CJ turned out to be. Until the first game of the season when they barely beat a Carthage team that comitted something like 6 turnovers.

Willard - didn't get a lot of talk but actually finished the season pretty decent toward the upper middle of the pack as I expected.

The rest were about like I thought. Branson slightly better. Neosho struggled to win any games. Nixa average.

Webb loosses a ton for 2018. We bring back our QB and RB so we shuld be dominenant and the No. 1 in 4A next year. And we welcome joplin to hte COC!

I noticed that Webb's JV and freshman both lost games this year. Does that kind of thing matter going forward?

Yes. When they win a state title in 2 years they can't say they have never lost a football game.

Disclaimer: Not from WC. I think the same could be said for Valle or Lamar. I don't think the head coaches of those schools put the emphasis on wins and losses at the lower levels. Just keep all involved, teach technique and keep them showing up in droves at the varsity level.

Frosh and JV ball about getting reps for a bunch of kids working things out. I wouldn't read much into a one loss JV season. frosh played some split squad games and even a couple of SEK JV squads on late pick ups so not much to worry about there as well. Plenty of talent to work with, but a lot of road to travel yet before we get there.
