Coaching change at St. Pius X?

I heard that St. Pius is making a coaching change. Does anyone know if this is true? Seems every year there are rumors that Allen Davis is being hired there but it always turns out to be just that, rumors. Anyone know anything about what the real truth is this time?

Didn't the AD just step down? If this is the new AD doing this - what a mistake - Mayes is one the up and coming younger coaches in the STL area

Hate to see this. I thought Coach Mayes was doing a great job. I remember when he played at Festus. Very good guard, with great ball handling skills and a real nice shot. I thought his guards last year showed a great improvement on their skills and he had the whole team really getting after it on both ends of the floor.

Curious to see the direction they chose. I don't pretend to know Coach Mayes at all. He seemed to be a popular coach there. Will be interested to see if he surfaces at another school.

I'm very confused about how the AD can also be the defensive coordinator for the football team, strength and conditioning coach, and head track coach. I can't wait to hear who the new coach is.....

WHOMEVER it is - The current coach has done a tremendous job and is very well respected in the community and by Pius players and other county players. If this new coach is tied to the AD and how should i say lighter in personality - when is the board meeting to vote? I would hope people band together and get some answers to justified questions.

Hearing they have offered one of the freshman basketball coaches the job and he has accepted...Eric Lawrence. Played at Festus and had a brother that played at Desoto.

Good luck to Coach Mayes in whatever he does next. I thought he did a good job at Pius. I think he's a quality person and proved that he's got what it takes to be a head coach. I don't understand what's going on at Pius I just hope Coach Mayes gets another chance somewhere soon.

That is certainly an interesting hire. Just seems strange they would make a change considering they have won conference 5 years straight. I hope if there is a Shootout at JeffCo again this year that maybe Festus and Pius decide to play. They have clearly been the two best teams and it would be a fun one to watch
