Each school with football is being asked to complete a survey by the Missouri Football Coaches Association on various proposals to the playoff system.

1. Change to 5 classes plus 8-man
2. Change to 7 classes plus 8-man
3. Do you think it’s important to be done before Thanksgiving
4. Would you be in favor of the playoffs starting in week 9 if you were guaranteed a 10th game?
5. Should Class 1 be capped at 32 teams?

1. Change to 5 classes plus 8-man (NO)
2. Change to 7 classes plus 8-man (YES)
3. Do you think it’s important to be done before Thanksgiving (NO-unless you coach BB or wrestling)
4. Would you be in favor of the playoffs starting in week 9 if you were guaranteed a 10th game? (YES)
5. Should Class 1 be capped at 32 teams? (NO)

If it were actually a coaches (and not admin) survey, you might get some better results.

The more I think about it, the easier for everyone it would be if Missouri went to 7 classes and balanced the classes out. 44 to 45 teams per class, 5 to 6 teams per district.

6. Should the success factor be applied to public schools?
7. Should public/private schools with little success be allowed to drop a class?

6. When Public schools can recruit and have players openly living out of their school districts, sure. Until then, the only schools that can do that are privates. Success factos/differentials/separate categories are all used...and it is like that in almost every state.

7. NO

If they adjust the number of classes I wonder if that will only be a football thing or if they will look to adjust basketball or other sports as well?

Or...and hear me out...you could go to 44 classes. Only have 7-8 teams per class. Those poor #8 seeds wouldn't have to suffer b/c the talent gap wouldn't be as large. Or, it would. But nevertheless, you could give the champ a plaque, 2nd-4th get trophies, 5th-8th get medals. Everyone could get a banner to hang, because the worst you could do would be the quarterfinals. Seems like an obvious solution.

Every other sport is different already. They just adjusted X Country last year. Track changed about 5 years ago to 5 classes from 4.

Or just keep the 6 we have now and divide total number of 11 man teams by 6.

Rocket surgery here folks.
