Rumor is a well known coach in the Ozark Conference quit after a run in with an AAU basketball coach at practice on Friday.
Had a senior averaging 20 a game quit a few weeks ago.

Why would an AAU coach be at practice??
Sure HS kids, you can now "opt out" also, and you should since a coach somewhere quit one time, or something. This is a great trend for the game.
Robert Yanders needs to go away.
Who is the AAU coach around Lebanon?
A coach is under contract and gets a paycheck, not so for the kids. If he has outside influences messing with his kids at school he should have the administration take care of that. That's not how I meant it. Pretty inarticulate phrasing on my part, so understandable.
I meant if everyone has decided it's okay for the kids to quit then we should make the same allowance for the coach.
However, to be clear, I was being a little fecetious. I'm not a fan of anyone quitting in the middle of the season.
As it should be.In regard to the situation at Lebanon, the AAU coach in question was asked to leave the gym and did so with help from the AD.
Coach Brown is still out. He’s done. The family that was bitching about him was why he won’t come back. Neither of their 2 sons is worth a squirt, but hey—if you have money you’re used to people kissing your ass. And the AAU “coach” in question has been telling them for years their sons were great. (Not sure I would call someone coaching games at The Fieldhouse but never ever ever in front of college coaches an AAU coach.)In regard to the situation at Lebanon, the AAU coach in question was asked to leave the gym and did so with help from the AD.
Both the kids are awful. But the “coach” in question loves cashing those checks, so he keeps telling the parents they’re great. The junior should never see the floor. The frosh could’ve been ok if the “coach” had never gotten ahold of him. It’s sad. Good for Coach Brown. Enough is sometimes enough.I think this may be my first ever post on here, but figured I better share what I can. I was at the open scrimmage held on February 12 at Lebanon. Shockley was there because his daughter plays at Central and they had a game at Lebanon that afternoon, so he was in the gym watching some of the players he helps "coach" during the summer. He walks into the gym and Brown politely asks him to leave, and he refused. Brown went and got the AD, and when they came back into the gym, one parent started giving Brown an earful. The parent who was chewing Brown out for no reason is also the Mayor of Lebanon's brother and told him he was going to do everything he could to get him fired that night. After back-and-forth banter, Brown tosses his keys to the AD and says he is out and done. The parent has two kids on the team (junior and freshman), and both are awful to put things nicely.
You are 100% correct. It is in all sports, I am all for doing what is best for the kid, and sometimes that means putting your ego aside to help the player. But AAU coaches and travel org need to do the same....stay in your lane. Most coaches are sick of having their livelihoods threatened cause they didn't play Turnover Johnny enough, and now they have to compete for the space in their players' heads with AAU Legend Coach/Trainer who never has to win a game, much less get actual education, certification, background checks, and training. School admins and MSHSAA can either head this off or watch the pool of experienced school coaches dwindle even further.
If Billy Brown wants another basketball job, he could get one.Good luck getting another coaching job.
BingoI think pretty highly of coach Brown and he certainly has a track record in the sport, so if things were bad enough for him to resign then that says more about the situation than it does him IMO.
Lol. Jesus. There are frauds in every aspect of life.If MSHSAA would just outlaw all workouts during the season, except with the hs team, that would fix some of the problems.
