You don't have to play better defense, you just need to score one more point than the other team. I think that's what you said about Montgomery when I talked about their lack of defense.

I also said there were many ways to win a basketball game. Considering Montgomery went to the Elite 8 and lost to the eventual champion I would say they had a pretty good year....wouldn't you?

If I'm not mistaken they toasted Monroe City for 90 points in the quarterfinal. I didn't follow Monroe City this year, but I believe they had given up a previous high of 45.

You might want to check your facts on Monroe City. I don't think I said Montgomery wasn't having a good year. I said they don't play very good defense. You bring up the amount of points they scored against the Panthers, what about the teams that put up 80 or 90 points on the Wildcats. You wouldn't think a class 3 team that makes the finial 8 would give up 94 points to Wellsville, 85 to Van-Far, 82 to MMA, all smaller schools.
Because this was a post about South Carolina, they marched to the finial four on the back of their defense.

Monroe city was supposed to have a so-called great defense and It got toasted pretty good.

I won't even get into the discussion about what constitutes great defense in high school.
If officials called the game the way it should be called most of the great defenses wouldn't be so great.
