Class 6 District 4 (Calpreps Predictions)

This is just an interesting district since Blue Springs and Rock appear to be down this year...seems wide open. Here are the scores kicked out by the computer on the first round, if they were to proceed with the current positions:

1. Kick 35
8. Blue Springs 21

2. Joplin 31
7. Lee's Summit 30. (Obviously a toss up game.)

3. LSW 21
6. Ray Pec 17 (Another close one.)

4. Lee's Summit North 21
5. Rockhurst 31 (They always have a big improvement during the year.)

I'm thinking Rock and LSW in the final...But there are a lot of toss up games to be played. This will be so interesting to see play out. Obviously, good to see Joplin and Kick up there in the driver's seats. But with all the toss-up games--it looks like there are five or six teams that could win this.

Going to the second round:

1. Kick 31
5. Rock 28 (Toss up.)

2. Joplin 26
3. LSW 28 (Toss up)

My Frogpreps prediction is pretty close along those lines. I think Kickapoo-Blue Springs is close but Kickapoo prevails. I think Lees Summit beats Joplin in a 7-10 pt game. I think LSW about 10 and Rock-LSN looks right on money. I do think it is a Rock-LSW final with Rock winning though I think the Kickapoo-Rock semifinal will be a good one.

I don't see Springfield beating BS if they play. Right now if BS wins Friday and LS loses then I believe BS will jump up from the bottom and could end up playing Joplin. Every time Springfield and Joplin play in districts they get beat. I see the same thing this year.

In all honesty this Joplin team has some very good athletes better than I've seen in a while but they still have a questionable physical enpugh defense . At times they're very tough, so i know they have it in them , I believe they can play with any team in that district but we will see . after looking at blues Springs schedule and a couple close losses there probably a very very good four and five team coming into districts! I know this , Joplin fans will enjoy that night !

As a parent of a former Joplin High Football Player. Im also very excited for JHS as well. But we gotta keep it real. Joplin lost to Class 4 West Plains. Yes West Plains might be a pretty good team but I guarantee West Plains wouldn't beat Blue Springs, Lee's Summit or Raymore-Peculiar. Yes I will be there Friday Night cheering on the Eagles!

Anyway yes I agree a little bit with that but .... I also think West Plains is better than you think and Joplin should've won that game I've talked to several people including the coach they would love to have that game back. I'll also say as a player I never saw my team play their best game three hours away from home that wasn't a playoff game. Compound that with a touchdown being called back and several other penalties, the better team lost that game! Like always they will have to show me that they're that much better ( district teams) so I'm going with Joplin in the first district game shocker huh !

At this point we don't know for sure who BS will play. Things could work out that they could be the 7th team in districts and play up here leaving RayPec or LS to travel.

I honestly don't think it will matter if it's Blue Springs, Lee's Summit or RayPec... Joplin loses!

I like Rockhurst to come out of this district again because Severino knows how to get through a playoff run. And almost all these teams are as even as a district can be. No offense to the other teams.

I think the district final could come down to Rock/BS. Out of all the teams in that district BS I think is playing the best. Rock plays JC tomorrow. We'll see how that comes out.

The problem for both Kickapoo and Joplin is that neither has an opportunity to measure itself against top outside competition prior to the start of districts. All of the regular season games are conference games, and they are the only two C6 schools in the conference. If Kickapoo, for example, could get a game with the likes of Webb City, Helias, Rockhurst, Howell, or heck, even Nixa, they'd have a better way to see where they are prior to the playoffs. Facing the likes of Rolla, Hillcrest, etc., just doesn't give you any idea how good you actually are.

Having seen Kickapoo play both Joplin and West Plains this year, West Plains was a much tougher opponent. I can't imagine Joplin hanging within 2 touchdowns of any other team in the district. And although this Kickapoo team has at least a chance of winning a C6 district game against a KC opponent, frankly I'll believe it when I see it.

Maybe Kickapoo and Joplin should think about leaving The Ozark Conference or The Ozark Conference should get rid of all Class 4 schools. If the Poo or Joplin could be come independent would be best. Would love to see Joplin play...... Webb City, Carl Junction, Pittsburg KS, Jefferson City, Battle, Rock Bridge, Helias Catholic!

Boy i hope All the experts on here are wrong !! I do believe that blue Springs is playing good football and I also believe the district is wide open. I will take the 14 points that somebody mentioned on here and my Eagles against the first district opponent I believe they can compete but we're all going to find out in a week or so .

I would love to see Joplin leave the Ozark conference. It would be great for the area to have rivalry games with Carthage Webb City Neosho Carl Junction etc. They would triple their revenue plus save money on travel I'm totally for it if any of you guys can help us get in the central Ozark conference. We've tried to get in it but..... So far no luck although I hear we're going to continue to try to get in I hope that's true.

Those Joplin area schools should get together, and in Springfield area a hybrid of current Springfield area OC teams plus Nixa, Ozark, Willard from the COC should happen. Then Camdenton, Lebanon, West Plains, Waynesville, and Rolla can do something as well.

I totally agree I'm not sure that the Columbia schools Jeff city schools Camdenton couldn't make a better conference even Rolla could be thrown in with them and Waynesville.

Joplin area schools could get together Springfield area schools to get together Then randomly draw a few teams out of each side to play each year then maybe pick up one or two games out of conference each year. Similar to the old Big 12 and sec.

Joplin fan but we usually don't measure up physically vs the kc schools. Eagles have some talent but the d is small and will get run over. Offensively we can put up some points but not when down two scores and you have to air it out continuesly. Need some home cooking next week to advance...especially the week after.
