Rock Bridge(23-3) vs. Lee's Summit North(26-3)
Is this the year the Bruins earn their first title?

Francis Howell(28-2) vs. CBC (St. Louis) 23-7
This will be a fair fight, two talented squads. should be fun to watch!

Curt Jacob is a former basketball coach, moved to be athletic director @ McCluer high school. Curt Jacob is retired from our Missouri teachers retirement system.

Curt Jacob is employed as head boys basketball coach @ Howell high school without having school duties during the day. My question is Curt Jacob the second head basketball coach to have a team in the final four in Missouri?

Coach Kirby a former basketball coach @ Parkway Central, retired and came back as head basketball coach @ Parkway Central and got a 4th place finish back in 2017.

Do we have other retired teacher- basketball coaches-------------working a head coaches in Missouri?

Would be curious as to how they are attending practices, meetings, film, and games, and still keeping their hours under 500 for the year, as required by the MSRS?

I believe Rick Mills, a retired Hall of Fame coach is still working at Leeton. He was coach at several schools including Warrensburg.

Serious question Deacon. How about if they are contracted for 500 hours at a flat amount and any hours over that is donated time?

A certified teacher can make $ 15,000.00 if they are subbing in a non-certified position. The 550 hours kicks in if you are working in certified teaching position or a coaching position. The answer to your question about donating time for a coaching position will not work.

This $15,000.00 thing was just approved this year by the Missouri Teachers retirement system of Missouri. My wife has been subbing @ SSD after being a teacher in a public school for 38 years. She is in a nob certified position therefore she can make $ 15,000.00 this year. We have many conversation with the retirement system this year. If she makes one dollar over the $ 15,000,00, the retirement system would deduct one month retirement or seven thousand dollars.

My advice is be very careful, don't get close to the 550 hours or the $ 15,000.00.

You could work 4 hours a day, 6 days a week during the weeks of basketball season and be under the 550 hours.

I have coached for 9 years after I retired. 4 years in Wright City M.S. One year at Troy M.S. the last 4 I have coached at Silex H.S. The school year 17-18 I subbed and coached and had 480 hrs. I was J,V. and Varsity assistant. This year I did not have to count my coaching hours. They change the rules this year

Yeah, definitely cannot donate any time.
Was not aware of the changes for this year.
Unfortunately does not affect me yet.

Once again, the 15,000.00 is for subbing in a non-certified position ( Not having a college degree ). If you are subbing for a certified position, the 550 hours is in force. Coaches hours are considered certified hours but who counting coaches hours. I'm guessing coaches hours are on the honor system and the coaching profession is among the most honest people in Missouri.
It is my understanding, schools pay the same for subbing in a certified and non certified position. This new pay scale came in this year because " Bus Drivers " were getting their hours in before the school year ended and school districts can not find bus drivers. Bus driver are paid much more then sub teachers because of the demand.

To my knowledge, coaching hours are most definitely supposed to be counted.

They changed the rules this year. We do not have to keep track of our coaching hours starting this year. Up until this year I had to keep track of my hours but not this year.

Coaches are hard to find, I'm guessing the coaches shortage will fall in line with " Bus Drivers " shortage. Bones can a coach like yourself coach more then one sport? I wish the coaches pay could increase up with the Bus Drivers.

Yes. All you have to have is 60 hours and sub certification. It looks like I will be coaching 8th grade boys next year. We play a MSHSAA schedule. That is if the school wants me.
