Class 5 Section 3 Championship: (1) #1 Carthage 35 (2) #5 Lebanon 14 - Final

What is the matter with Lebanons stadium? They have a nice set up there.

How many turnovers in the last 30 seconds???
If I understood correctly Carthage received the ball with less than a minute to go, made a few plays then threw an int with about 30 seconds to go. Lebanon fumbled on the next play and Carthage recovered. Then threw another int on the next play with no time left.

Lebanon will start with the ball after half. Very much anyone's game at this point! The game is just a couple minor things away from being 28-7 Carthage but on the flip side we could have a 7-7 tie if not for a Lebanon fumble on their first offensive play of the game. One of those games where small things can make a big difference.

Carthage got in for a basically game ending TD but it was called back for a holding penalty. Probably the 95th holding penalty of the season. Lead to a 4th and goal from the 22 and Moore comes down with the score.

Sounds like Jadwin is out with injury?? I've only been listening to the game on and off so not sure what happened.

The stream I was watching just got removed
I think it's funny yet irritating how quick and effective MSHSAA is at finding and getting these unauthorized streams of high school sports shut down. They can't come up with the manpower to do a lot of things but when we're talking something that impacts their revenue they sure as sh1t make it happen.

The backup Qb for Carthage is better than their starter.
I don't remember seeing Kinder at QB this year other than today, seems like other situations where they've had someone else in that position it was Carlton and he's done well too. Gall has taken the snap several times on a lot of 3rd and short type plays.

Jadwin isn't very big but he's quick and I think that group looks to him as their leader and QB as he's been in that role since forever.

It was a great win for Carthage and a tougher battle than I think the score shows. Lebanon really hurt themselves with oodles of fumbles, losing 3 of 4. Carthage defense was outstanding but there were a couple drives where they just couldn't stop that Musha (sp?) kid. The blocked punt after a 3-out really set the tone in the second half but Lebanon didn't give up and made a couple smart plays that kept them alive like throwing their first pass of the game on a critical 4th down.

I would have been happy for Lebanon to finally get past this stage of the game as I believe they have been eliminated by either Carthage or Webb City in each of the last 4 years but I am glad for Carthage to see them back at it after getting sidelined very early by Webb City the last 2 years. They had extremely high hopes this year and at times it's looked questionable but they've really pulled out some fantastic games. May or may not get past Howell next week but at least they get the privilege of hosting a home semi final game, something not many schools get to do!

CONGRATS Carthage! Sets up a monster vs. Francis Howell next week. MUST SEE game down that way.............
Indeed and in fact it might be the ONLY game down this way so it could draw in a lot of football fans who want to catch one last game even if it's not their team.

I had to register a new account but I think Carthage vs. Howell should be the game that determines who'll be the state champion. These two teams have been at or near the top of the rankings from the beginning. Should be a good one.

Yes I didn't realize they played each other next! That will be a big one too no doubt. Weird to meet a conference foe in the semi finals!
I may have to flip a quarter to decide on which game to go to next Saturday.

Lamar will thump the tribe . Carthage will likely get beat but it may be a good game

Carthage has an offense that is crazy hard to defend . They are really physical . I've seen their last 3 games and I still maintain gall isn't right . He's still really freaking good but he's not like we was earlier this year . His speed is way down and he's just a shell of what he typically is . I've only watched Howell once ...against Jackson who admittedly turned out to not be that great this year ...but they really dominated them .

Jackson blew out Cape Central who is now in the other semi so I agree and have seen on webcasts/replays Gall is not who he was last or earlier this year. I still think them dominating a very, very good Lebanon today says a lot.

Carthage is crazy good. How Webb beat them last year is still a head scratcher . I still see Carthage as an underdog but not by alot . Next year however Carthage will be a total rebuild . All 11 defense starters are seniors and so are anyone relevant on offense . So I hope they pull it out bc it will be their last shot for a few years minimum

2022 in the KC metro and NWMO is what I call a year of CONTINUITY. 2023 will become the great year of CHANGE. Will discuss that next year.

From a strictly coc standpoint Joplin returns a lot from what was supposed to be a rebuild . They will be really good . Nixa and Republic will also be very good . Webb returns a good bit as well . To say Joplin isn't the favorite in the coc next year would be a bold statement. But the argument can be made for the others mentioned as well but based on returning starters Joplin should be excellent next year and Carthage in the pooper

One thing that has really given Carthage a boost this season has been special teams. Gall's supporting cast has really stepped up the last couple games (several underclassmen) and teams seem to forget that they have a 6'6" wr with the best hands in the COC who, while not having incredible stats, makes big plays on a regular basis.
I think Howell has too much especially with Gall being only about 70% but toughness and ball control could be the equalizer.

I've seen Howell play in person 4 times this year. They have a lot of weapons on offense and they get a lot of players involved. Most of their skill position players, except the QB are returning from last year's team. Howell also has a very good kicker.
