This game is showing that Gall is by far the most valuable player to his team in the state
I wonder if they just don’t want to risk a stupid injury over a seemingly sure fire win
Apparently Gall pulled a hamstring and will only play if they need him to. Seems like they need him to at this point
I initially thought they'd be really bad next year but the freshman and JV both won almost all their games and they both have some very big kids who may develop into very solid players. Also, both have Carlton qbs which typically bodes well for Carthage.
Class of '24 went 0-9 as freshmen, but JV was 8-1 this year. I don't see them finishing worse than 5-4 next season though
Weird game so far. Small crowd in middle of the day. Different announcer, not sure who it is but he’s having a lot of fun with it
Willard is playing inspired and like a team with nothing to lose. Carthage is playing like a team just trying to get through to next week.
I’m told gall was not starting but might play. Hopefully they come out with some fire after half. Giving up way too much on defense so far!

I worry about next week. The players acted like they already won when they announced it over the speakers.
Carthage always gives up a lot of points to them even with Gall. They spent last week preparing for Webb...so who knows.
Blowout rematches tend to soften up the winning team if just a bit and focuses the losing team IF they are both otherwise solid programs.
Everyone cheered when that announcement was made. I’m sure some were cheering thinking republic might be an easy out but I think part of the glee is NOT facing and potentially losing to Webb city for the millionth time. If republic gets by Carthage next week it’s a lot easier to be happy for them than it is for the Webb crowd that has shut them and everyone else in this area out of playoffs pretty much every year since the late 1980s.
Plus the republic folks aren’t going to show up at workplaces all over the Joplin and Carthage Monday bloviating about it.
