Two top Southeast Missouri high school coaches will do battle tomorrow evening in Farmington.

Greg Holifield a high school graduate of Senath-Hornersville--Now basketball coach @ Sikeston
Terry Noble a high school graduate of Delta-C7---now basketball coach @ Farmington

The Sikeston Bulldogs are a perfect 11-0--( Biggest wins Cape Central and Zumwalt South )
The Farmington Knights are near perfect 13-1 ( Biggest wins Poplar Bluff and Sullivan )

Sikeston plays in class 4 district 1-----------Farmington plays in class 4 district 2. ( Class 4 district 1 and district 2 will meet in a MSHSAA Sectional game and the favorites for class 4 district 1 and 2 are presently-- you guessed it---Sikeston and Farmington.

I must make it clear Sikeston is not a lock in class 4 district 1 because the district will be played
in Cape and they have still not painted that " Orange Wall ".

The Farmington Knights have a much easier time of winning district 2.

If you believe the information listed above, I see a preview of a class 4 Sectional game and possible final four team in Springfield latter in March, 2019.

Who ya got?

Well of course I’ll be rooting for Sikeston but I’m sure Farmington has a very good team and will be very tuff at home, Sikeston will have to play a very good game to come away with a win. A loss won’t be the end of the world.... at least this time of the year .

Greg Holifield and his Sikeston Bulldogs should win by double digits. Some basketball fans call this a, " One half of a clock job. "

I watched this game on the internet. There was no doubt on the outcome of this game after a few times down the floor as " Speed Kills " as it usually does.

A big thanks goes out to KFMO.

Sikeston-------89---Now 12-0
Farmington---62---Now 12-2

Actually Farmington had the lead early in the 2nd qtr. That's when Holifield called timeout and lit the fire. From then on Farmington couldn't contain the quickness and good shooting. Farmington only has 5 players and was gassed before half. Instead of slowing the game down they took a lot of quick shots which plays into Sikeston's game. Sikeston is good as usual. They shot better from outside than I expected. Farmington could possibly not lose again until a likely rematch in the section game across the street, assuming Sikeston gets by Cape. They'll have to come up with something different to change the outcome much.

Sidenote. I thought it was a rule you couldn't grab the rim and pull yourself up in attempt to catch a pass with the other. I thought it used to be a T. Has that rule changed? It looked cool but I thought it was illegal to do that. I'm not sure how all 3 officials could not see it since it was an alleyoop pass.

The only thing I can think of why the refs didn't call a T was that he had players under him and was trying to avoid landing on them. Sometimes the refs will allow it in those instances. Otherwise it has usually been a T in the past when I've seen that happen.

So Metro is this the first time you seen Sikeston this year ? If so how do we compare to the other top teams you have seen this year .

Sikeston and Cape central are the best class 4 team I have seen this year. It's too bad both teams are class 4 district one, one must go home the night of the district finals. I have the winner playing Farmington again.
Train, Sikeston made headlines last season when they defeated St. Mary's in sectionals. I am making the call, Class 4 district one winner will square off with St. Mary's this year in sectionals. This will be a blood game if it's Sikeston.

St. Louis University recruit Yuri Collins 18.2 PPG appears too be angry but is thankful for another possible opportunity @ Sikeston. Sofora Rasas 16.9 PPG who played a minor role last season wants another chance @ the Sikeston Bulldogs.

St. Mary's will plays @ Borgia in two days. I hope too this one.

I talked with some friends in the Farmington area, They were very impressed with Sikeston and hope Cape Central defeats Sikeston in districts. They also stated we most likely can't defeat Cape Central but we don't want those Greg Holifield coached Bulldogs back in our area until next year.

It’s going to be fun down the stretch leading up to the district, yeah it’s to bad especially for the kids knowing both teams should be in the Final Four, but Class 4 district 1 has been in that situation before, and having a HOF coach who’s been in that situation before is a big advantage imo .

Folks that stuff happens in a couple of classes every year. It used to be class 3 in the SEMO area that had a district loser that could most likely get to the Final 4 and do well there. In girls basketball it's been class 2 in our area that has two of the best teams in the state meeting either in districts or at least before the Final 4. Not much could be done about it, ya gotta beat the folks in your neighborhood to move on.

Yeah 3R I agree that’s basketball in SEMO

The beauty of class 4 district one is who ever win this district will be favored in sectionals and quarter final game. Room reservations and other arrangements can be made after the class four district one finals which will be played @ Cape Central. I have this a toss up game with a slight lean toward the host school.

I will try to calm St. Mary's down when I see them @ Borgia on Friday evening. It is my understanding St. Mary's and there coach will be cheering for Sikeston with revenge on their mind.

Apparently Borgia was up to the task.

washMo, what's going with this Borgia team? They have good size and small guards
Apparently Borgia was up to the task.

washMo speaking of Borgia. The Knights have played a " Pit Bull " schedule, play in class 4 district 8, very winnable for Borgia. Borgia can win against any team in class 4 district 7 played @ St. Charles West. I believe SCW can win this district playing @ home.

The Borgia Knights ( 9-6 record ) have played DeSmet 14-3----Sullivan 12-3-----MICDS 9-6-----Father Tolton 11-2----Ritter 10-7, don't let their record fool you and split with St. Mary's.

Do we have anyone brave enough too predict Borgia will be playing in a sectional game if they can recover from the mileage from Washington to Hannibal. washMo, stick that neck out there and predict Borgia in the sectionals.

Metro I just think the talent level is down a bit at Borgia this year. But Neier is one of the top coaches in Missouri and he is bringing them along.

I haven’t seen Mexico or Kirkwood this year, but I would not be surprised at all for Borgia to win another district title.

Moberly has a guard that can really shoot, would really love to see him at Pt Lookout in the future but I’m sure that’s not happening. But I think Borgia defense would make the matchup fall their way.

The two teams I listed above are the only ones I see having a chance only because I don’t know anything about them. If I’m having to bet on a team it would be Borgia
