Class 4 ranking among the 16 remaining teams

1. Vashon---------------21-4---From District--5--Big favorite to win class 4 ( Any let downs and Bolivar or St. Joe wins class 4. )
2. Bolivar----------------24-4---From District--13--Bolivar could get the upset and win it all ( Quartet-final match up could be the state championship game )
3. Lafayette St. Joe---25-3--From District---16--St. Joe could get the upset and win it all ( A.quarter-final win could be a state championship win )
3. Sikeston--------------26-1--From District --1---The Bulldogs will most likely be a final four team but must get major breaks to win in Columbia.
3. Riverview------------16-10-From District --5--Long shot to win it all because of Vashon ( Most other brackets and the Rams would play another day )--3 nice addition to their roster after January ).
6. Webb City-----------20-6---From District --12--No chance to win it all ( Just happy to still be playing )
7. Parkway West------22-5---From District----4--No chance to win it all ( Happy to still be playing )
8. Helias-----------------18-9--From District----10--No chance to win it all ( Happy to win a district )
8. Borgia----------------19-7---From District-----9--No chance to win it all ( Lucky to still be playing )
8. Lincoln Prep--------18-7 --From District ---15--No chance to win it all ( Lucky )

St. Mary's, Jennings, Westminister and Miller Career could have won over half of the 16 class 4 districts across Missouri.

Judging from the above, I see only four teams having a chance to win class 4. Anyone disagree?

I only see 10 teams listed. I guess a Happy to win district or a Lucky to still be playing will be in the quarter-finals. There are 16 teams. I would say 16 teams still have a chance to win it....

Thanks for the support, Metro!

One of the teams listed below will celebrate two time this week but I see a tough weekend in Columbia following these two wins.

Borgia---------------19-7
Helias---------------18-9

Glendale-----------18-9
Webb City---------20-6

I'll take playing this week and a tough weekend in Columbia over sitting at home right now like 72% of Glendale's opponents this season including Ozark, Branson, Rolla, West Plains, Rogersville, Camdenton, Lebanon, Joplin, Skiatook, Tulsa Nathan Hale, Aurora, Hillcrest, Parkview, Central, Confluence Prep, Oak Park, Wichita Defenders, and Tulsa Daniel Webster.

We don't make it this far very often and I'll enjoy it while it lasts! Remember out of the 19 Glendale teams I've followed since 1996, I'd rank this one about 15th or 16th. So, we don't advance past this point no matter how good we are. I'll enjoy the ride, if you don't mind!

Bears, I could be wrong on this one.

I remember talk of Rolla being in Webb's way. They lose out in Districts?

Yes, Jeff City Helias beat them 74-60. Back-to-back seasons Rolla has lost to a team in the post-season that they had defeated during the regular season. Must think they're Glendale or something.

Edmond North is now ranked 18th in the entire country and Glendale LED them at half (33-31) and we were still within 8 (54-46) early on in the fourth quarter. Yes, it ended up 84-66, but we outplayed the #18 team in the country for a half and that's saying something given our talent level and size issues.

Very very surprised you said that Borgia is even lucky enough to be still be playing. Who in districts did you think should have beaten them. I saw them play against Ladue this year and Cardinal Ritter and could tell they could play. They have a couple of very good shooting seniors. They have a decent big man win the shooting is on will get the job done. And last but not least, how in the hell could you even say something like that about a Coach Neier coached team. One of the most all time win coaches in high school basketball and who always seems to get the job done around this time of year. Can they win state? I don't know. I don't even know if they will beat Helias, but to say they are lucky to still be playing is a bit far fetched.

Don't see the Scott kid from Bolivar playing Tuesday night. If he does the coach needs to be fired. Took a huge spill against Harrisonville and laid motionless with arms locked in front for about 5 seconds, players yanked him up and he almost fell over while they supported him. Coach seemed upset that neutral trainer was checking him out. That was Friday night, not sure 4 days is enough to be cleared.

I attended the Rolla-Borgia game in sectional last season. Rolla could have defeated Borgia by 30 or more points. Borgia has their key players returning for this season. It's appears the Borgia players have not improved since last year.

When we look @ the big wins and loses for the Borgia Knight this year, It does not add up to a class 4 state championship team.

Big wins for Borgia:
Class 3 Ritter-----------69-68
Class 5 Jackson-------68-56

Class 5 Rock Bridge---won---66-54---Lost 57-55

Loses for the Borgia Knights
Class 4 St. Marys---Lost twice---61-39 and 59-53
Class 4 Westminister--Lost--59-48
Class 4 Duchesne-----Lost---57-53
Class 5 Vianney-------Lost--- 81-77 ( C. Gordon did not play )
Class 5 Jeff City-------Lost---59-53

All of the above teams who have defeated Borgia this season did not win a district this year. The Borgia loses were to very good teams and could vault the Knights into quarter-final play against Helias. Helias got the upset in the district 10 final against Rolla. Neither Helias or Borgia can win a state championship this year.

You stated, "Borgia is lucky to still be playing" I asked you. In order for them not to still be playing they would have had to lose in district. Who in that district then do you think should have beaten Borgia that makes them "lucky to still be playing."

Class 4 district 9--Borgia was a huge favorite to win district 9. If Borgia was in a class 4 district 5 ( Vashon, Miller Career and St. Mary's ) I believe Borgia would have been a 4th seed in that district. One could say Borgia is lucky to still be playing because the Knights were placed in district 9 instead of District 1, 6, 13, 14 or 16.

I believe the top four class 4 teams will advance to the final four in Columbia. The MSHSAA have some districts that are very weak and a few with two or more strong teams.

Class 5 has the top 4 teams in Missouri regardless of class. Chaminade, Hazelwood Central, Kickapoo and Lees Summit ) Chaminade and Hazelwood Central will play tonight in a sectional game. One of the top four teams in Missouri will not be represented in the final four this year.

What can the MSHSAA do to get the top four teams in the final four in each class?

Do you know how many teams you could say that about in all districts in all classes? You can't go by that. They also should be lucky that they have some good players to win that district. You could say they were lucky they weren't a class 5 school. The fact is they were in district 9. They should have won that division and they did. They are where most people think they should have been. No luck involved in this. Now they go own to Helias. Do I think they will win? I have no idea. Will it surprise me if they do, no it won't. They both split with Rockbridge for a small comparision. And one thing many st. louis teams have never done is take a Coach Neier basketball team for granted.

Dude....... I see that you did not list St.Charles er Kirksville...
Guess they fall under the "no chance list.."lol...
As a l-o-n-g time attendee of the Show-Me Showdown, I can tell you that it very seldom works out the way it's predicted.. That's why they play the games, nothing is certain...
Enjoy the games.......C =/~

If you say that, Hazelwood Central beat CBC by 10 and Tolton beat CBC by 10 as well. That puts them right up there with the top teams IMO

I'm not as familiar with basketball around the state of late as much as football but that has often been the case in football. Webb City for example in football played Carl Junction (who very nearly beat them) in a District semifinal. Carl Junction was a top 5 team in Class 4 most of the season but the #4 seed in their district.

That doesn't even take into account the number of times that Rockhurst-Blue Springs played arguably state championship games in district play.

Don't know much about Borgia except they have a pretty good reputation for playing good basketball but I wouldn't call them lucky for winning their district. Maybe next year their district is tougher than the adjacent district.

I still wouldn't bet against Webb ...

I think the Webb City-Glendale match-up will be pretty even though I like WC's chances and the winner of that game will be an underdog against the Helias-Borgia winner but on paper Rolla was the favorite to come out of this corner of the bracket before Helias beat them.

I agree. This far, anything really can happen. I mean, CJ almost beat Webb this year in football.

I think Lafayette has a shot at winning, but St. Joe is the name of the city, not the school. There are 5 high schools in St. Joe.

March 8th, 2016 @ Willard HS
Glendale Falcons(19-9) - 73
Webb City(21-7) - 57

Glendale led 70-49 with 2:45 left.

8th Quarterfinal appearance in school history ('78, '80, '82, '86, '88, '90, '99 & '16)! Glendale's now 8-8 in state sectional games. Falcons lead the all-time series with Webb City 6-0!

Johal scored 29, but the game MVP for Glendale was senior forward/center Will Sachs!

One of Lafayette's losses was to National Top Ten Atascocita (TX). I still think the Bolivar-Lafayette winner is going all the way.

And Bolivar is gone....................old school powerhouse Ray South advances to face Lafayette Saturday in Independence.
