Calpreps? State Rankings? How about looking at mshsaa’s district seeding formula? Based on wins, strength of schedule, playing up, margin of victory, etc., Parkway North has the highest Class 4 rating, with Carl Junction a close second.
I also found it interesting that when looking at the average rating of the top 3 teams in any district, District 5 with CJ, Webb City, and Camdenton is the toughest. Add in a fourth team, and District 5 remains the highest rated (Hillcrest being the fourth seed there).
These District 5 top 4 teams all play in conferences that are predominantly class 5 and class 6 teams, on average, which of course helps all of their ratings. And helps prepare them for the post-season.
The “easiest” district? District 4, with Parkway West (5-4) (the lowest rated #1 seed), Union (6-3), St. Clair (5-4), and Westminster (3-6) (this district also had the lowest top 2, the lowest top 3, and the lowest top 4 averages).
Parkway North may have the easiest path to the state semi-finals, as they have the largest rating discrepancy over other teams in their district, and they are paired with District 4 in the state quarterfinals.
