Calpreps? State Rankings? How about looking at mshsaa’s district seeding formula? Based on wins, strength of schedule, playing up, margin of victory, etc., Parkway North has the highest Class 4 rating, with Carl Junction a close second.

I also found it interesting that when looking at the average rating of the top 3 teams in any district, District 5 with CJ, Webb City, and Camdenton is the toughest. Add in a fourth team, and District 5 remains the highest rated (Hillcrest being the fourth seed there).

These District 5 top 4 teams all play in conferences that are predominantly class 5 and class 6 teams, on average, which of course helps all of their ratings. And helps prepare them for the post-season.

The “easiest” district? District 4, with Parkway West (5-4) (the lowest rated #1 seed), Union (6-3), St. Clair (5-4), and Westminster (3-6) (this district also had the lowest top 2, the lowest top 3, and the lowest top 4 averages).

Parkway North may have the easiest path to the state semi-finals, as they have the largest rating discrepancy over other teams in their district, and they are paired with District 4 in the state quarterfinals.

MSHSAA ranking of the top 10 teams in Class 4:

Team(District), Rating

1-Parkway North(3) 51.74

2-Carl Junction(5) 49.35

3-Ladue Horton(2) 48.17

4-Kearney(8) 47.01

5-Webb City(5) 44.57

6-Camdenton(5) 44.56

7-Parkway Central(3) 42.83

8-Platte County(8) 42.31

9-Farmington(1) 41.98

10-Hillsboro(1) 41.27

Thanks for putting this together. I like this kind of stuff. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

One idea that I would like to see MHSHAA implement is to re-seed the teams after districts based on their Rating. Assuming that the #1 seeds all win, here is what the Final 8 would be:

Parkway North 51.74
Carl Junction 49.35
Kearney 47.01
Ladue Horton Watkins 48.17
Farmington 41.98
Hannibal 38.61
Harrisonville 37.59
Parkway West 35.91

Then QF would be
#8 Parkway West at #1 Parkway North
#5 Farmington at #4 Ladue Horton Watkins
#7 Harrisonville at #2 Carl Junction
#6 Hannibal at #3 Kearney

Oddly, All of those happen to match up geographically outside of Hannibal and Kearney.

Oddly, this scenario could allow me to see my Tigers play at Lamar. I could make that one, but I doubt highly I will be able to make the possible semi @ Macon. Too quick a turnaround on a work weekend, plus no family connections for a seat make it unappealing. Pray if it happens, there's a quality webcast.
