Webb and Kearney are heads and shoulders above the rest. Webb beats down the Rock and Kearney beats down Liberty. Both should be on cruise control until they meet again. Stay healthy!!

H-ville would have to get past Webb to see Kearney, I would put Kearney and H-ville in the same boat this year. I know it doesn't mean much but they were very evenly matched in the jamboree, and H-ville had 5 or 6 starters out

Class 4 hasn't been a two team race since 2011 when MICDS made a game of it in the dome against Webb.

Webb City is such a freak that it has made Class 4 totally boring. In the last ten years Kearney and Lee's Summit West are the other schools to win a Class 4 championship. Both went on to have some success in Class 5. Webb needs to add some transfers just to raise their enrollment be able play in Class 5 and make it a little more interesting. Maybe they'd only win 60 percent of the championships then;)

Webb doesn't have to have transfers. Just exaggerate the numbers. Do the right thing Webb. Move to class five where your recruits can be challenged.

In 2011, Webb scored with just a few seconds left in the semifinal game to take their first lead against Savanah.....just to get to the dome. Crazy game in more ways than one. It was probably 75 degrees before kickoff and 35 degrees by the fourth quarter.

Kearney went to class 5. Result: they went to the Semis...there isn't much difference between Class 5 and Class 4...if ANY. Except 2013 was a bloodbath. LSW was fantastic.

As a Joplin guy I will tell ya straight up Webb doesn't recruit. But kids have moved from Joplin , Carl junction and Neosho . To I assume play sports at Webb but most move before 8th grade. That's parents prerogative in my opinion. Now as far as enrollment that stumps me . I have seen Webb City , Oronogo Carterville and small communities that make up the Webb City district grow and grow the schools add on and add on class rooms but the enrollment creeps forward like molasses in winter time . Idk

not sure anyone is the Class of Webb... perhaps a two-team race to see who will be second.

Why aren't all these kids moving TO Joplin, Carl Junction or Neosho? I assume you've checked other high school enrollment numbers and compared their growth before taking this typical dump on WC?

Not sure about Neosho but they have not grown alot since the 80's. But if you check enrollment numbers over the last 10 years CJ has probable grown the fastest in that area. They have a large school district as far as square miles and cheap land for vast housing developments and nice new schools since the tornado went thru several years ago. While Webb has grown they have not grown all that fast, I would not be surprised if CJ does not pass them in enrollment numbers in the next decade for sure but it could be sooner.

I'm not taking a dump on the Webb And I don't know that many people moving to Webb I just know a handful of kids that have. My point is merely that the population has grown the schools have been added onto Or built on but the enrollment numbers creep nothing to get offended over. Yes bullit you are correct Carl Junction has been growing at a rapid pace

Kearney 4-3 and Excelsior Springs 1-0 v. Webb. Clay County is Kryptonite for Webb in the playoffs?
Those are two different eras but I sure remember Bonuchi's teams at EXS mid-90s they were very physical. Timing has everything to do with the head to head records.....................I would not have liked to see K vs. Webb in years like 2012.

I don't think Clay County had much to do with it. I don't think Ex Springs has fielded a team since the 90's that would have tested WC. The one stat is when those teams beat WC they win a state championship. The Ex Springs teams that won titles were not as good as any of the Kearney teams with titles.

2013,Kearney team was really good. Too bad they had 10 too many more students that put them in class 5 those two years.

It wasn't good at all defensively the beginning of that campaign. What we witnessed was about as quick and big a turnaround on that side of the ball that I literally have ever seen! I still also remember the ending of that Fort O game............no doubt a controversial call (shock like those don't happen at this level weekly) but was not in the end zone just yet and I was on the receiving end of a lot of ugliness after that one, too. Amazing what this kids' sport does to us all at times.

Jones experimented with a new defense and scrapped it after a couple weeks going back to what works.

Joey, tell us what defense that they ran going into the beginning of 13? And what did "Coach Grey" go to adjust the attitude of what the purple swarm is about? I mean since you know so much first hand info for not being a part of the town or school?

Joey, why wont you answer my question? Could it be you have no idea and as usual just pulling something out of thin air? Its not like you don't get a notification every time someone responds to your posts. Speak up.
