I'm a little confused on the district seedings so far, especially in Class 3A District 1. St Mary's which just got their season started Friday is seeded number 1 as of right now. Is this correct?

It’s about your average district rating per game played, for lack of a better way to put it.
So for example, if you played just one game, maybe against a Class 4 team, and beat them by 13 points or more (13 being the max you get credit for), you’d have scored an average rating per game of about the best you could do (unless you played up 2 or even 3 classes).
Also, opponents’ strength of schedule comes into play, so a win against a pretty good team would help, but even if they were dreadful it doesn’t drag you down too much.
Not to worry, it’s because they beat a Class 6 team by more than 13 points. Next week they play Lutheran North and will likely lose, bringing down their score.
