Not much chatter in here right now...

Who are the teams to watch in Class 3 this season?

Oak Grove, Maryville, John Burroughs...

Not sure they warrant a mention with those above, but I am looking forward to see what a healthy Sainte Genevieve can do. Made a great decision with promoting within and naming Mr. Weik head coach.

Plus you know twosticks will have teams on the run. Need to stay healthy.

Whether it's JBS or St. Gen, does anyone from the South/East side of the bracket in Class 3 stand a legit chance against the NWMO representative? Since switching up the Class 3 bracket to be North vs South three years ago, a NWMO team has beaten the S/E side representative by an average score of 45-25.

I'm not sure, but I guess if you go back and look at how those teams from the NW did against others in the NW, its all pretty relative.

For example Maryville got beat last year by Oak Grove 69 to 23. And California beat Orchard Farm 56 to 21. It's not like these were knock out drag outs from fellow NW teams. Then California got beat 49 to 14 by Oak Grove. All of these leading up to the Championship game.

So yeah, sometimes a team is just that good as Oak Grove was.

My larger point was that an East side team has not won Class 3 since MICDS did it back in 2004 (and that was MICDS's last cycle in Class 3); I only grouped in the rest of the South since they've been on the same side of the bracket for the last three years

Thanks in large part to Cassville and Harrisonville. No doubt that side of the state is on a pretty good run in Class 3.

How long has it been since any east side public school has won a state title in small classes ? (1-4)

P.S. Are you comparing scores? I thought that was verboten.

Actually wasn't comparing scores. I was stating scores. Simply stating that the previous teams faired no better than the eventual team in the state championship. Sorry, figured somebody smart enough to fill out the log in information would be able to understand that basic concept. Guess I was wrong.

As for your previous question, no idea, nor do I really care.

You were comparing what one team did against team x against what other teams did. That's comparing.

The question was simply for info purposes. I can't recall the last east side public school to win state. South Shelby maybe? West side is tough.

Comparing scores Veer style is saying that since Maryville got beat 69-23 by Oak Grove, then JB was better than Maryville.

I can get the crayons to draw the picture if you want?

^^^If that's not comparing scores I don't know what is.^^^^

It's ok. You're just trying to make the east side look 'better'. I get it. Unless you have another point.

I have magenta or blue? what Crayon do you choose?

I started the post with.

I'm not sure, but I guess if you go back and look at how those teams from the NW did against others in the NW, its all pretty relative. Which was in reference to those previous State Champs beating other teams within in that area with the same relative ease as they did those from the East. I never stated JB would beat Maryville or any of the other teams by comparing scores. The scores stated where to show the point difference those teams beat the other NW teams.

Thanks for derailing another thread and wasting all of our time.

You'll make a fine mother-in-law someday.

I've said it the past two years so maybe this year it actually happens - St. Pius was really young last year and should be much better, good enough to get by Maryville - not likely but here's hoping

Pius will be even younger this year, mainly because last year's freshman class was really strong. quite a few should see the field. Next year could be the year.

Problem has been that Maryville is so dominant that teams don't think they have chance, so they don't do what it takes to be Champions. they don't see a way to beat them. OG showed that they aren't invincible so who knows.
