I'd take Barstow and Hogan Prep over most the teams that are ranked. They both play really tough schedules and lose some games along the way so they're not going to get a lot of love in the rankings. Hogan Prep especially has played a tougher schedule than most of the Class 5 teams in my area.

Hogan Prep losses: St. Joe Central, St. Thomas Aquinas, Liberty, Washington, Lee's Summit West, Rock Bridge.

Those are six really, really good losses. St. Joe Central is 19-4, Aquinas might be the best team in the KC area, Liberty is really good this year, Washington has a D1 guard, LSW is a Class 5 contender, and Rock Bridge is 15-4.

Hogan Prep has a great individual player in Damien Daniels. With all that said, HP isn't very big, they are really streaky from the perimeter and they can be beat. But man they play hard and they are tough to contain. They'll be a handful for most Class 3 teams.

Barstow might have the state's best player in Jacob Gilyard. He's big time. They don't really have a lot around him and if he has an off game they're done, but … they went and won the St. Thomas Aquinas Tournament, an incredibly impressive performance. The beat the host team and Blue Valley in the process, two really, really good Kansas teams.

Those two teams are in the same district, but whoever comes out of it is going to be in the Final Four IMO.

1. Lamar, Fair Grove, or even Springfield Catholic. I don't think any of these teams match up with Mtn. Grove, but could make some noise. Lamar is long and athletic. Guard well and make plays. Fair Grove I think is a good point guard away from being a Final Four team. Catholic has a good sophomore and junior bunch. Most people that know anything in SWMO say they are a year away. Don't put anything past HOF coach Tony Armstrong.
3. Tough to say because this is the class of usually two good Private schools matched up against two good public schools. I am not sure the last time that this class went to a public school. Maybe to Charleston?

Dark horse is Class 3 is Northwest Academy of Law out of St. Louis. The 14-9 record doesn't look great, but only true losses to Missouri teams have been to Vashon 79-69, CBC 55-43, and Ritenour 63-62. The first 4 losses were due to forfeits. They have won 8/9.
