Game day is finally here! Safe travels for everyone attending the championship games today @ tomorrow. One last thread about what it will take for each team hoist the Class 2 Mo. State Championship Trophy. I regularly attend Lamar games but I attended last weeks Trinity vs Lawson game to see what all the hoopla was about. Here my thoughts for what it is worth.

Trinity wins if......... Offensively score early and get the lead. An effective passing game mixed in with some big plays. It's been their EMO all year. Control the line & keep Lamar's DE's off the QB. ( Lawson shut down Trinity's run game & line play was neutralized but Lawson still gave up the big plays). Defensively they have to shut down Lamars running game. No big surprise there. Control the line & get in the backfield to disrupt/limit Lamars run play selection.
( Heavily penalized team on both sides of the ball if they can cut them down drastically it would help them tremendously).

Lamar wins if......... offensively they need to reduce penalties big time. Lamar will need long drives & penalties will kill them! Reduce the number of times #66 is in the backfield! Pass just enough to keep Trinity from loading the box. Defensively this will be where the game will be won or lost in my opinion. Neutralized the line of scrimmage. Contain the QB & make life miserable for him with constant pressure ( he is only a sophomore so make him make sophmore mistakes. Basically get in his head!). Shut down the running game. Most importantly the DB's need to stay with their assignments, do not stop to look in the backfield like Lawson's DB's! That is where they lost the game last week.

I like Lamars chances for a sixth straight title. I think Lamar can frustrate Trinity into making mistakes. If they get to them early this game could get ugly. If not This game has the making of a really exciting game!
