First off, congrats to both teams getting here. Quite the road for both.

Lathrop will need to have their best defensive effort of the year, coming off their best defensive effort of the year. I still don't know how they were able to hold their own against that massive Lamar line. Quite a different animal in the smaller, quicker line of Blair Oaks ahead.

Blair Oaks just needs to play their game. Lathrop doesn't present any mis-matches that I can see too much problem with. I'm really impressed with the BO QB. He's special. Once again I'll mention the Lathrop kicking game. Yes, he did miss a 42 yarder in the semi, but has that kind of range as he kicked a 43 yarder in the quarter.

Most years, this Lathrop team would be enough to take down a title. Hate to say it, but this one won't be close in the end. I've got it in the 48-17 range for Blair Oaks barring major weather/injuries. Looks like a slight chance of rain and ~50°.

“The fastest runner does always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle...

It is all decided by chance; by being in the right place at the right time”

- Ecclesiastes 9:11

Of course “Chance favors the prepared”, too (Louis Pasteur), but the point is, a bounce of the ball this way or that, a high snap at the right or wrong time...

This is why they play the game! (...that, or maybe I just like reading my own garbage, as some would say ;))

My feeling was it would probably be a BO runaway win, regardless of if Lathrop or Lamar won. I think Lathrop probably has the better chance (obviously because they beat Lamar), because they have a ton of speed and good athletes across the board. They may be able to stay on some of the weapons, and they did a really good job pass rushing against Lamar's line, which was very large.

Lathrop's only chance of winning this game is to disrupt the QB and do it quick. This has been hard to do by anyone this year against BO. I don't even think BO QB has been sacked this year. Their offense which is RPO based offense really allows for the QB to not only use his arm which the range is mind boggling, but also use his feet as soon as he can tell pressure is coming and turn a blown up play by the defense into 3-5 yard gain by the offense.

If Lathrop can't cover those WRs like a hawk, be able to tell when the jet sweeps are coming, and disrupt the QB enough to where they can't get the ball to their playmakers... then its game over for Lathrop.

Stats for Nolan Hair QB Blair Oaks

46 Passing Touchdowns
0 Interceptions
13 rushing Touchdowns

BO has to be the favorite! Three straight final four runs (being undefeated to the final four) in class 3 under Coach Walker. Moved down to class 2 and have dominated. Offense is really good and they have a ton of really good kids. Seasoned veteran team who can handle adversity.

Can we blame Cardinal Ritter and Trinity for them dropping to Class 2. Being that the enrollment difference between BO and the Class 3 cutoff is 1 student based upon 337 enrollment number and 338 being the cutoff for class 3. I think we can.

Isn’t the difference a private school can control its head count and a public cannot?
