The Sticks of Missouri
So, we have one for Class 5, 3 & 1...and I know nothing about class 4 schools (although there is an ongoing lovefest with Vashon on here)

here are the most recent polls (should be a new one released today if they get put out on time)

So...C2 experts (or not) give me your:

1. Final 8
2. Dark Horse (sleeper)
3. POY Candidate
4. Championship Team
5. Best potential matchup before Columbia

I'll try to answer my own here:

Final 8:
Hartville vs. Oran
Knox County vs. Salisbury
Greenwood vs. Marionville
Sacred Heart vs. Wellington Napoleon

2. Dark Horse(s): Harrisburg, Mid Buchanan, Santa Fe, (I would say Eugene, but they are ranked pretty high on maxpreps)

3. Not sure on this.

4. Hartville until someone their size beats them :)

5. No question this is Thayer vs. Hartville

Just curious how many of these teams have you seen play...your final 8 & dark horses?

New MBCA Poll today

Class 2

1 Hartville 20-5

2 Thayer 21-3

3 Wellington-Napoleon 23-1

4 Salisbury 21-3

5 Lincoln 21-1

6 Knox County 19-4

7 Marionville 20-3

8 Stanberry 19-4

9 Ellington 18-5

10 Eugene 17-6

Sacred Heart's best kid hurt his elbow and is possibly out for the season. Lincoln beat them in the conference tournament last weekend.

Not sure on the final 8... as i've not seen enough outside of southern or mid-mo teams.

2. Dark Horse: Greenwood
3. Just to throw a new name in: Julius Walker from Greenwood. If he carries that group to the Final Four he should be in the discussion. Not saying Piper or Jones aren't going to go home with the award and I haven't seen the Salisbury kid play either.
4. Hartville
5. Thayer-Hartville

Take this all with a grain of salt as I haven't seen Salisbury, Lincoln, or Wellington play.

District 16 had some interesting games...Mid Buchanas was tied at half with 7 seed Gallatin..then pulled away. 3 Seed East Atchison was upset by 6 Seed Maysville. 1 Seed Stanberry won by 10 over 8 Seed Polo. Plattsburg won over Princeton by 3.

District 8 was a pretty tough district top to bottom probably one of the more balanced districts in the state. Stanberry-Mid Buchanan in the championship if it happens would be a good game, but both teams have to take care of business to get there.

POY candidates - Garrett Francis, Salisbury; Dune Piper, Hartville
Francis is not as good as several kids in POY voting. Salisbury has not played that tough of schedule, but Coach Wyatt always has them prepared. Lincoln beat Sacred Heart, but Sacred Heart guard was out (not their best one either though). Sacred Heart beat Lincoln when they were healthy by 8 or so. Should be a great district final between the 2 teams. I would have to say Thayer or Hartville will be your champs.

McAuley in Joplin is 22-4. Three of those losses have come to Class 3 teams. I think they should at least be in the conversation?

There have already been some significant upsets in district play:

Lincoln falling to Smithton, Knox County falling to Clopton...

To self-shout out...to this point, my dark horses are all alive and kicking...we will see what Stanberry, Wellington Napoleon, and Eugene have to say about that though.

I think Harrisburg and Mid Buchanan have the best chances of advancing through districts of my dark horses (in that order) with Santa Fe having lost twice to Well-Nap...once by 10, second meeting by 28

In all fairness, I only saw Hartville at the Blue and Gold and Jones was in foul trouble, but Piper was very impressive scoring 50 in two games.

Piper was a stud in the blue and gold. Jones when he isn't in foul trouble is as well. I think Jones had 47 against Hazelwood Central if i'm not mistaken.

Hartville vs. Oran
Salisbury vs. ?
Greenwood vs. ?
Sacred Heart vs. Wellington Napoleon

2. Dark Horse(s): Harrisburg, McCauley

3.? Probably Piper from Hartville

4. Hartville is the most tested. Thayer is good. Wellington will be really tough if they hit shots that weekend.

5. Thayer vs. Hartville. Hon. Mention to Sacred Heart vs. Wellington

also .. someone mentioned Sacred Heart's best guard was out. Not their best guard by any measure but a decent one who is a Senior. He's back now and probably at 75%.

Great game between Hartville and Thayer last night. Would not be shocked it those 2 teams are the 2 best in the state.

Dark horse: Greenwood is still alive.
POY candidate Julius Walker had 45 in his sectional game against Iberia.

Also may have to agree with Bird, that Thayer-Hartville may have been the matchup of the 2 best Class 2's in the state. But proves another class 2 can play with and possibly beat Hartville. Should be a fun next 2 weekends of games.

Looks like all the Quarterfinal games were good:

Oran 55
(#1) Hartville 52

Sacred Heart 69
(#3) Wellington-Napolean 66 (OT)

Harrisburg 58
Clopton 57

Crane 49
Greenwood 48
