Class 1 Final 4 predictions and State Championship prediction????

School of the Ozarks
Walnut Grove
Glasgow
Stansberry

Walnut Grove over Stansberry

Walnut grove will struggle against Stanberry's size if it comes to this. Three kids 6'5" plus that can move well and handle the ball.Their normal point guard is probably 6'1 or 2, with a wing at 6'2" as well and a post at 6'2" or 3 that just signed a letter to play D2 football with the defending national champions.

Walnut grove will be able to pressure Stanberry more than they have been all year though as well. Stanberry's length will also lead to a lower shooting percentage by WG. WG will definitely have to make some perimeter shots (which I know they are capable of doing) to win.

If Winston were to advance to final four...I think that game might be extremely high scoring. Both fast paced and pressing type teams.

Wg has faced tall teams including Iberia which features 6'10, 6'8, 6'6 and beat them. I know Wg will have to make perimeter shots as they do every time that they play. It is going to be a very interesting last month of the year. I do agree with your final four prediction.

Walnut Grove played an extremely good game against Iberia with 6'10" & 6'7" starters. I was there and was very impressed with the patience, playing, and coaching of Walnut Grove. I would bet good $$$ they make it to Final 4 & maybe go all the way.

Stanberry over WG in the title game

What intrigues you about Mercer , WP ?

In order for Mercer to be in the final four, they first have to win their district. That won't be a cakewalk as they squeaked by Meadville by one recently and could face either them or Novinger.

Then a sectional game with DIstrict 11 champs which I am not too familiar with. After that they would likely run into
Tina Avalon, (which has already beat them), but more likely Glasgow, which will be a tough out.
It appears to me you are one optimistic dude......:D

I will stick with my original picks,

Stanberry
Glasgow
Advance
Walnut Grove

I have respect for Winston as they are quick and talented, but I don't think they will get lucky against Stanberry 2 years in a row.

I see no real threat to Glasgow making a final four appearance.

Advance was tough last year, and have been playing some tough teams, anything can happen, but my money's on them.

I have saw all the above teams on multiple occasions. Walnut Grove being the exception. This I am going by record, quality wins, tradition and WGTigerdad67,s confidence.;)

I'm going to need to hear a rundown from tiger dad on wg's loss to crane on Saturday. They were held under 50...pretty rare for them.

Played a very good Class 2 #3 ranked team in the state. Very athletic team that played better than The Grove did on this night. It's all about playing a very tough schedule and the WG Tigers are doing just that. So think what you want about this loss and the previous loss but this team will learn from them both. I said this would be a very interesting month and it still will be!!!!!

Oh, I'm not questioning WG's ability and skill. I was just curious what happened. If I had to guess, I'd say Crane could handle the pressure and WG had to rely on outside shooting, which shots didn't fall for them. But, I honestly have no idea what happened. As far as strength of schedule (and success against them, how about Hartville's schedule. Wow.

Does Winston play Stanberry in the regular season??? Not sure how far apart these two communities are????

Wg had a bad first half shooting the ball and then played them even the second half. Crane handled the pressure fairly well and shot it pretty well but all in all played better than the Grove.

Not sure on the regular season. I do feel, however, Winston or Stanberry would be a tough out for any class 1 team. Either one capable of winning a state championship. Only one of those teams will have the opportunity.
Thats life.

North Missouri has some tough ball being played. This was evident last year as north Mo took 1st and 2nd at the state championship.

Yes the North was good last year for sure and it's evident that they are good again this year. When would Stanberry have to play Winston ????

Quarterfinals,

One of these teams (however deserving), will not make the final four.

Winston and Stanberry are fairly close and share quite a few opponents, and they have been beating up on all of them.

Honestly don't know. They see each other in the summertime I believe. Probably both want to keep their undefeated records...just kidding. Winston kind of rose to power recently as well, so maybe they just didn't have a standing game.

Gotcha. We try to play everyone that we may face before the Quarterfinals in the regular season. Guess that's why it shocks me a bit. We play a lot of class 2/3 schools as well.

game scheduling has been a bit of a mess in the NW this last year or so due to a major realignment of the conferences. The PVC disappeared completely with those schools all going to the 275 and the GRC. The days of liberal choices for non-conference games are very limited for those 2 "super- conferences". You may or may not get to maintain some long-time non-conference rivalry with a school that is close....let alone one that is an hour away.

True, but Stanberry hasn't changed conferences and Winston plays a lot of the GRC schools. In the future, there is very very little room for extra games from what I understand.

there aren't many of us discussing NW Class 1....occasionally we hear from WPlatte...Antler...and a few others...
has Norborne been forgotten in the polls at 17-1?

or is strength of schedule a question? I have no idea...asking.

I was personally unaware of their record. If strength of schedule is a factor, I personally would argue against mercer and Hardin central being on the rankings. Obviously IMO.

Hardin

Hardin Losses: Braymer 64-45, Norborne 52-43, Richmond 56-46, Lexington 65-40, Wellington 63-31

Nice Wins over: Meadville 51-43, Tina 59-56

Hardin has a decent pg and a strong player down low.

They have an above schedule .

Projected record going into district play: 14-7

Projected seeding for district: 3rd Although they are ranked #10 this week! Really?????

Norborne

Norborne Losses: Braymer 63-47

Nice wins over: Hardin 52-43 and Higbee 64-54, Tina 65-59

They have a pg that can catch fire and shoot lights out. Their other guard handles the ball well.

They play a pretty easy schedule.

Projected record going into district play: 19-1 or 20-2

Projected seeding for district: 2nd

Although decent, (and my cinderella) I wouldn't call TA a great win, and Braymer would be a better resume builder if they didn't have the injuries.

In NW missouri, if you haven't played Winston, Stanberry, North Andrew or Jefferson, I don't think you've played the top 4 teams. IMO.
