Class 1 All State Teams

I’ve got Javon Noyse as the offensive player of the year from Mid Buch, Colby Simms as defensive player of the year from Marceline, and Kris Conely as coach if the year from Sweet Springs

I think Beamon POY and Conley coach of year. Not sure about defensive, haven't taken a dive into the stats yet

Lincoln’s Beaman and Bays players of the year. Valle’s Naeger Coach of the year. Book it...

I think Jake Vencill from the Windsor Greyhounds has to be in the running Class 1 Coach of the Year.

10-3 Record most wins in a season for Windsor

Opponents combined record 91-58

Beat the number 1, 2, 3 teams in the I-70

Beat the number 1 team in the WEMO

Lost to Adrian (10-2) and twice to Lincoln (14-1) (Both State Ranked)

Beat 2A Strafford 45-20 after last year’s 07-49 slaughter on the road.

Won a District Championship game at Adrian who 3 weeks earlier beat the Greyhounds 41-14

First District Title since 1989

POY: Jackson Beeman Lincoln
Defensive POY Tanner Bayse Lincoln

Didn’t go for enough for coach of the year.

Does football coach of the year work like basketball where the coach of the year is the coach of the team that finished the highest? Providing the coach belongs to the MBCA?

I really agree with this. For sure the coach of the year, I saw the Windsor Adrian game is person and to see how he was able to motivate his team after being down 14-0 early in the game was incredible. He took just a pretty average program and put them on the map! Definitely my front runner but if he somehow happens to not get it it should only be Aaron Fritz. He has taken Mid Buc to two strait final fours and had another amazing year this year. He and his versatile QB have turned Mid Buc into a Class 1 powerhouse.

Far enough? Should that even be part of the criteria? I am a firm believer that some of the best coaching jobs are not done with loaded teams but teams who are not expected to achieve and excel. Windsor was not even on the map in 1A football and now with the past 3 years included are ranked in the top 10 in every poll I have seen. Reaching the State Quarterfinals should be plenty enough to at least get a sniff. Coach Vencill's 4 year stint so far has accumulated 29 wins which is slightly over 10% of the programs total wins of 270 from 1949-2019.

I do agree Mid Buchanan is an incredible well coached program as well.

You have to make the final four to be a candidate for coach of the year. Nothing against what he’s done he just doesn’t meet the criteria to get the award

TDsilly, I think Jman is right - for the coaches all-state team I think only the final four team’s coaches are considered. I would think the vast majority of the time it goes to the coach of the champion team...

And should

I completely fumbled this one, I was under the impression that the 8 Districts selected a Coach of the Year and those were the candidates for Coach of the Year for their Class. My Bad

So somebody gets rewarded for low expectations? Hey, everybody thought your team was going to suck, and they didn't, so you da man!
Not at all, just stating the FACT that the best coaching job of the year isn't always done by the coach that wins the title.
