Everyone and their dog is saying the Chiefs should pick a receiver. They surely will have to replace the superstar Donnie Avery. A lot of mocks have them taking the Arizona State wr, some even mention DGB. There has also been talk of signing Maclin or trading for Marshall of Chicago. Both of these options will likely cost draft picks, something I don't believe Dorsey will do.

Another train of thought is picking O-line. A lot of this thinking comes from the feeling that Fisher has been a monumental bust. And drafting an offensive lineman will always play well in the heartland.

This article articulates another line of thinking that, imo, should warrant consideration. KC needs corners. In today's NFL, cornerbacks are quickly becoming as indispensable as linebackers. Good ones, maybe even more so.

Quality DB early makes sense. Then OLine. Take a shot later in the draft with sleeper WRs like Kenny Bell or Jordan Taylor

Chief's "sleeper" receivers in the draft (Rounds 3-7)

Last 10 Years:
2012 Devon Wylie: 6 rec/53 yards in career
2012 Junior Hemingway: 25 rec/233 yards/2 TD's in career
2009 Quinten Lawrence: 2 rec/ 9 yards in career
2008 Will Franklin: 7 rec/83 yards in career
2008 Kevin Robinson: no career stats
2006 Jeff Webb: 36 rec/ 382 yards in career
2005 Cro Thorpe: 12 rec/70 yards in career

Receivers in Early Rounds (1-2nd)

Baldwin: 44 rec/607 yards/2 TDs (as bad as he was, still better than all others drafted later)
McCluster: 198 rec/1687 yards/6 TDs
Bowe: 532 rec/ 7115 yards/44 TDs

May want to rethink draft strategy on wide receivers...

Sleeper pick WR is assuming they trade for a starter....which has been the thought by some

As a KC fan, I'd love to see us get a receiver through trade if it was a 2nd round or later pick. Someone proven with our draft history (even with now a 3rd regime in the last decade) would give me more confidence than I have looking at those results I posted.

Chief's are painfully weak at both receiver and cornerback. The best player left on the board when KC picks in the first round will hopefully be one or the other.

Agreed but still want a WR most. Our D was very good last year especially considering DJ one of the leagues most consistent LBers was out. We need a threat at reciever. Im not even concerned with a deep threat just a quality reciever to play opposite of Bowe, whom I still think is a very good reciever. If the CHIEFS can get a quality guy that could really open up the offense especially for Charles. We arent the legion of BOOM by any means but we are a top total defense team and its time Andy gets our offense on the same page.

The chiefs need to get a reciever of some sorts. When all the keyboard jockeys can say they caught as many td passes as the chiefs recievers theres a problem

AMEN. How a team can go 9-7 and not have a WR catch a TD pass all year is crazy.
