Being a "draft-dodger" is not the same as being a "chickenhawk". What makes a person a "chickenhawk", whether before or after "conscription" (draft) was ended, is their support of war - which is what makes them "hawks" -, but only for others, not for oneself - which is why they are known as "chicken". ( So liberals who opposed the war and service in it for everybody, not just themselves, were not "chickenhawks".

Mitt Romney, with his five model chickenhawk sons, the Senate leaders Mitch McConnell & Jon Cornyn, and the Republican leadership of the House :Speaker John A. Boehner. Majority Leader Eric Cantor & Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy.

[ "Chicken Hawks" are people who are enthused about their country engaging in WAR – which is why they are called "hawks", – but who make sure that their own butts are nowhere near the fighting – which makes them "chicken-hawks" . – ]

Republican conservatives attacked President Clinton for having questioned the Vietnam War. But while liberals like Bill Clinton were avoiding service for themselves, they didn't want anybody else to risk their lives in what they viewed as a senseless war. Republican "chickenhawks", on the other hand, promoted this war as a great cause, one in which other young men in America should expose themselves to injury and/or death.– So you can call liberal Democrats "chickens", if you like; but it usually takes a conservative to be a "chickenhawk".

For those who still don't get the difference, think about the difference between Roman Catholic priests who boast about their celibacy, while secretly having women on the side, and other clergymen who marry openly. The sexual activities of Catholic priests are viewed as especially shmeful because of their profession to be "holier than thou" celibates.

Conservative Republicans who chose not to serve in the military wouldn't be called "chickenhawks" if they didn't profess to be such great patriots and lovers of the military.

Here are some of the higher profile, holier than thou, dishonest hypocritical, cowardly conservatives who supported the war and argued in favor of other young Americans going off to fight and die in Vietnam, while "conserving" their own precious draft dodging hides stateside

Is this a KU Jayhawk post?

Some folks are born made to wave the flag
Ooh, they're red, white and blue
And when the band plays "Hail to the chief"
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no senator's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, no
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves, oh
But when the taxman comes to the door
Lord, the house looks like a rummage sale, yes
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no millionaire's son, no
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, no
Yeah, yeah
Some folks inherit star spangled eyes
Ooh, they send you down to war, Lord
And when…

I love the hypocrisy of Rush and Sean Hannity.

So beings there are (+) 324,118,787 million people in the United States. 1,400,000 being active military,1,000,000 more in reserve duties.
Are you saying that unless you "actually fought" in the war itself, your not a real soldier?

Of those 1,400,000 active duty, only 76% were actually deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan.

That number is now down to... 1,064,000

Of those who were assigned support duties such as medical hospitals away from the battle field, related health jobs, refueling, mechanics, base security, transportation, administration, planning etc....

That number drops another 35-55 % based on location of engagement.

At the low number of 35%, the original number of 1,064,000 is now down to 691,986.

Now based on the population of the US (-) the military who actually saw action in war time, you'd come up with this number.

US pop 324,118,787 - 691,986 = 323,426,801
So tell me why the people above do not count for being patriotic to the country?

"If" all of the above were eligible to volunteer in the the military, only a small fraction would actually even be taken without a draft.

Are you calling for a draft?

Does the National Guard service only count if your deployed overseas and "actually fight" in a war?

Are you saying that those who are in other fields such as highly trained medical research teams, Homeland Security for example...
are less of a soldier than those who carry a gun?

What about the Senator or politician who has a love one in the military.

Are they more patriotic than the one who doesn't?

If ones child is stationed in Afghanistan but never sees action due to their assignment. Were they "real" soldiers or were they just "show pieces" given "special treatment" by their parents?

This whole post makes little to no sense to me ..

Please explain why you think 323,426,801 Americans are not patriotic.

I'm not responding to strawman arguments, because you know none of that is what I said or even implied.
