Chemical weapons in Iraq?

I just read a story on the MSN home page about mustard gas weapons found in Iraq but covered up by our own government so as not to alarm the folks back home to the dangers our people were really facing over there. They say this was chemical weapons made in the west and used in the Iraq/Iran war. That means a weapons deal made with somebody came back to bite us just as it is now with ISIS taking over heavy weapons we left in Iraq, only worse. It says many, possibly hundreds, of our troops were exposed to it but may have trouble getting the lifetime care they will need through the VA because of the lack of documentation about it. Somebody that knows how to go there and put this article on here should do so for everyone to read and make their own judgement about it. Scary stuff has been going on since 9/11 but this is as crazy as any I've heard of. They found this stuff but wouldn't tell us even as they were getting hammered for NOT finding any such thing there.

I read that article 3R, but don't recall where. I thought at the time that this proves Bush right, but that is water under the bridge.

I had posted on here when the gulf war started that my nephews group found some of the chemical tipped rockets...

There are literally thousands of old munitions full of chemical agents stored at Sadams old manufacturing facility. The UN and allies knew then and now what is in those bunkers.

Bush got hammered because we couldn't find any new production facilities that our intelligence community ( and most every countries spooks) believed to exist.

That crap is too old and unstable for a sane guy to be handling ,,but the ISIS people have proven to be far from sane

Thousands of them ,,,,, twenty years old and rusted but still lethal as hell.

They were so worried the general public would balk at keeping our troops there if they knew what was the real danger was they just set back and took the heat for not finding anything and covered it up so the vets couldn't get the care they need and even took away Purple Hearts from some because they couldn't acknowledge want happened to them or that the weapons came for us to start with? That's wanting to lie to us pretty bad. The article did go on to say Hagel has instructed the VA to take care of those affected.

Ag that doesn't make the decision to go into Iraq right. We sent them that stuff a long time ago, if we didn't want them have it we should have stayed out that war too. Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11 and Bush dropped ball in Afghanistan to send troops to Iraq for no good reason.

No, Bush and his team alleged Iraq had an active WMD program. That was the entire rationale for going to Iraq. No program existed even by the account of the Bush administration. Were there discarded old shells from the Iran/Iraq War era that hadn't fully been destroyed? Yes. Was there any sort of ongoing program? No. Were these weapons that were even being maintained by Saddam? No.

And, as is noted by many, these shells came from America...not exactly a fact Bush wanted to trumpet (Hey, we found the carcasses in a dump of some WMD shells we gave to Saddam 20 years ago!!!)

Iraq was a total disaster - the single worst decision of his Presidency. It was the worst decision by any President since Nixon, and Nixon's involved committing a crime.

Iraq cost America trillions of dollars and thousands of lives while horribly impacting tens of thousands of other soldiers and millions of Iraqis. It severely damaged our relationship with many allies and created an easy place for enemies to attack our troops and our interests. It set Iraq into a de facto civil war that has been going on for a decade now. It distracted us from Afghanistan and gave our allies an excuse to cut and run from there.

Look at the quagmire Afghanistan has even been for the US. This is why Obama must think long and hard about how he wishes to engage ISIS. Military decisions cannot be taken lightly.

Find the article and read it. It told where they were found and it says about 600 people were injured by them.

I hope nobody decides that we have weapons of mass destruction and decide to invade us.

Muthanna isn't a dump it's a gigantic chemical weapons facility.

There was dispersal of old shells outside of the main dump, yes.
These were ready to go and about 7 miles from one of our bases.

Obama used the Nuclear Option against the Republicans...
Something he would never do with ISIS.

Post 911 liberalism ...

That is the dumbest thing I've read all day. And I already read that terrible article posted about Obama lying.

Nice jingoism but I'm guessing you and I both likely believe way, way too much was made of that.

Agreed but if Bush had the nads to do it we'd never hear the end of what a great president he was for that single act.

Sorta of Reaganesque..he's a hero to people who claim to believe the opposite of everything he actually did.

I disagree. While Nixon's crime cost him his presidency and ended in shame. Bush's decision cost thousands their lives. I think Bush's decision was worse.
