Cheating in college basketball????

The real cheaters will all walk away unscathed once again. The assistants will take the fall and guys like Pitino will act like he didn't know anything was happening and keep on keeping on.
I'm finding that difficult to believe. Federal indictments are a big deal. And someone is on a wiretap. Could be him.

I figured everybody cheated but I'm stunned the shoe company is stupid enough to actually pay the players like this. I guess I'm more naive than I thought. I figured paying the schools and the AAU coaches was enough and that the boosters and coaches would handle the players. The reputational risk to Adidas seems obscenely high.

The highlight of the whole thing is not even the Louisville stuff, it's University-7 (Miami) having to offer $150k to match the $150k offer from University-4 (Arizona) for Quinerly.

Also the Rick Pitino quotes about Bowen falling in their laps. Yeah, because you gave him enough money to buy a house!!!!

More I think about it, I'm struggling to see Rick Pitino making it to their first game this year. They're on double secret probation and they got caught by the Feds paying a player. He's going bye bye.

Courtney Ramey from Webster Groves has committed to Louisville. This might be enough to convince Courtney to enroll @ St. Louis University with teammate Carte'are Gordon.

Can they outbid Mizzou?

It's a joke, people, relax. But more plausible than it should be.

At least Mizzou got Porter the old fashioned way. By paying his dad a lot of money.

I certainly hope. That guy is soooo crooked!

I bet petino is out by the month. Some rumbling he might be out tomorrow.

cowherd, you are correct---Rick Pitino will be out @ Louisville before the day ends. Rick's salary for 2017 is 5.093 million dollars. Who will be hired @ Louisville?

Boys was I ever wrong! Glad he got the axe, FINALLY!

If there was ever a case for the death penalty, I think it would be Louisville basketball.

A caretaker for a year. Surely all of those assistants are getting suspended or canned.

Rick was owed in excess of 30 M unless he screwed it up. He screwed it up. He's probably made 100 M so far between UK/Boston Celtics/Louisville/shoe money/other endorsements so who really cares, though.

They are going to have a challenge attracting a top tier candidate from a potential wins and losses standpoint given the intense scrutiny they will be facing from the NCAA and FBI. Who wants to coach a team that is likely to have a big NCAA ban, triple secret probation, recruiting restrictions, and scholarship losses? It's an ACC school with good facilities and budget so crazy things can happen, though. If they get some donor to fund a 2 M a year deal with a 5 year guarantee, someone will decide the money is too good and take the Ls.

Hire a respected DII coach to suffer through the dumpster fire, and can him when you have a chance to turn the corner. You know, the Mizzou plan.
It helps if one of the assistants on the women’s team has the #1 player in the country as a son.
