Game of the Week
Class 6. #4 Springfield Kickapoo(4-0) v.s. Class 5. #7 Springfield Glendale(4-0)
This game will most likely decide the Ozark Conference Championship, as well as tell us a lot about both of these teams.
Last week Kickapoo shutout Camdenton 42-0 and Glendale took care of undefeated Class 5 foe Lebanon by a margin of 20 points.
There are a lot out there that think Glendale still does not have a shot in this game and they may be correct, but I believe this is going to be a very back and forth game, Glendale has won coming from behind as well as leading the whole game this season so they can get it done however they have to.
Kickapoo has been the favorite in every game they have played this year and have performed how they've been expected to. Either way, this is a very important game for both of these teams as far as conference championship possilibility, district seeding, and state rankings goes.
The Numbers
Kickapoo has outscored their opponents 47-15 on average, with wins over Parkview, Joplin, Rolla, and Camdenton
Glendale has outscored their opponents 53-24 on average with a just slightly tougher schedule thus far, with wins over Joplin, Hillcrest, West Plains, and Lebanon
Kickapoo's Maverick McGee comes into the game second in the Ozark Conference in rushing(unofficially, I just know that he's not first) with 539 yds on the season and averaging 9.1 yards per carry as well as 135/ypg.
Glendale's Alex Huston comes into Friday's contest as the #1 Passer in the Nation(according to MaxPreps.com) completing 132 of his 190 attempts for 2,091 yards and 25 TDs with ONLY 3 INTs on the year. He's averaging 523 passing yards per game for the undefeated Falcons.
---I firmly believe that this game is going to be a shootout with neither teams defense being overly impressive this year, I can't make a prediction on which team is going to come out on top, but I look for the score to be somewhere around 56-52 or 49-42.
---2015 Result: 63-20 Kickapoo Win
---2014 Result: 48-47 Glendale Win
---Kickapoo leads the all-time series of this rivalry game 7-5(this is since MaxPreps started keeping track 12 years ago......)
Coaches
Kurt Thompson(Kickapoo)- 175-85 Career Record, this being his 25th year(multiple sources)
Mike Mauk(Glendale)- 231 Career wins, (multiple sources)
Interesting Game of the Week
Springfield Catholic v.s. Bolivar
It's really hard to consider this game a sleeper, but I look for this game to be very close and not near as high scoring as the previous game I mentioned.
Catholic could come out and whip Bolivar too though with the way they've been playing so there's no telling how this one's going to go.
Definitely looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.
I'll be honest, I'm pulling for Catholic.
There are so many good even match-ups this week it's really hard to choose honestly!
