THE OZARKS
Game of the Week

Class 6. #4 Springfield Kickapoo(4-0) v.s. Class 5. #7 Springfield Glendale(4-0)

This game will most likely decide the Ozark Conference Championship, as well as tell us a lot about both of these teams.
Last week Kickapoo shutout Camdenton 42-0 and Glendale took care of undefeated Class 5 foe Lebanon by a margin of 20 points.
There are a lot out there that think Glendale still does not have a shot in this game and they may be correct, but I believe this is going to be a very back and forth game, Glendale has won coming from behind as well as leading the whole game this season so they can get it done however they have to.
Kickapoo has been the favorite in every game they have played this year and have performed how they've been expected to. Either way, this is a very important game for both of these teams as far as conference championship possilibility, district seeding, and state rankings goes.
The Numbers
Kickapoo has outscored their opponents 47-15 on average, with wins over Parkview, Joplin, Rolla, and Camdenton
Glendale has outscored their opponents 53-24 on average with a just slightly tougher schedule thus far, with wins over Joplin, Hillcrest, West Plains, and Lebanon

Kickapoo's Maverick McGee comes into the game second in the Ozark Conference in rushing(unofficially, I just know that he's not first) with 539 yds on the season and averaging 9.1 yards per carry as well as 135/ypg.
Glendale's Alex Huston comes into Friday's contest as the #1 Passer in the Nation(according to MaxPreps.com) completing 132 of his 190 attempts for 2,091 yards and 25 TDs with ONLY 3 INTs on the year. He's averaging 523 passing yards per game for the undefeated Falcons.

---I firmly believe that this game is going to be a shootout with neither teams defense being overly impressive this year, I can't make a prediction on which team is going to come out on top, but I look for the score to be somewhere around 56-52 or 49-42.
---2015 Result: 63-20 Kickapoo Win
---2014 Result: 48-47 Glendale Win
---Kickapoo leads the all-time series of this rivalry game 7-5(this is since MaxPreps started keeping track 12 years ago......)
Coaches
Kurt Thompson(Kickapoo)- 175-85 Career Record, this being his 25th year(multiple sources)
Mike Mauk(Glendale)- 231 Career wins, (multiple sources)

Interesting Game of the Week
Springfield Catholic v.s. Bolivar
It's really hard to consider this game a sleeper, but I look for this game to be very close and not near as high scoring as the previous game I mentioned.
Catholic could come out and whip Bolivar too though with the way they've been playing so there's no telling how this one's going to go.
Definitely looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.
I'll be honest, I'm pulling for Catholic.

There are so many good even match-ups this week it's really hard to choose honestly!

The Kickapoo vs Glendale game should be a great one this year. The atmosphere will be second to none due to the rivalry itself. Add the fact that both teams come into this game unblemished and 4-0 and you have the makings of a grid iron war.

The Falcons are coming into this game with an upset in mind, however I believe if you look closer at the numbers, K-Poo should walk away 5-0. Chaotic's numbers are correct. Kickapoo has out scored their opponents 47-15 on average. What those numbers don't show is a majority of the 47 points scored come in the first half. It also does not show that most of the points given up come in the second half against Kickapoo's second string.

Glendale will make the Chiefs keep their starters in all 4 quarters on Thursday night. That being said K-Poo rolls again.

Kickapoo's superior numbers and athletes since the mid-90's has given them an unquestioned advantage over Glendale in the main sports (Football, basketball, & baseball). If this were an Olympic sport, Glendale would more than likely defeat their ONLY true rival regardless of the season or circumstances. However, in the top three sports, Kickapoo has won about 60% of the time since the mid-90's.

In boys basketball, Glendale had a lead of 42-25 as recently as January of 2000. Now, they're down 46-50. Kickapoo won 14 straight between 2002 and 2011.
In girls basketball, it's the Lady Chiefs with a commanding and dominating 62-39 edge. It's not even close. Rivalry in name only!!!!!!!!!!!
In baseball, it's a little better with the Chiefs owning a 7-5 advantage over Glendale since 2008.

Soccer is the best sport in the rivalry between the schools. I think it's about even and Glendale has actually defeated Kickapoo in post-season play from time to time, which isn't the case in football or boys basketball. Kickapoo is 2-0 vs. Glendale in post-season play in football and Kickapoo currently has a 9 game winning streak in post-season play in boys basketball since '91.

Yes, each season is different, but I also think history can tell us A LOT, if you bother to take the time to know the history.

In football, Glendale held a four game advantage in the all-time series (14-10) in 1992, now they're down 22-25. That means the Chiefs have won 15 times since then, while Glendale has won only 8 times. My heart and gut want my Falcons to win, however, I feel (as usual) Kickapoo will prevail in the end. Yes, Glendale pulled off an upset two years ago (as well as the boys & girls basketball teams later that year), but I ALWAYS feel, think, suspect Glendale will lose to Kickapoo regardless of the sport, if you're talking about the main three in this country. 25 years of seeing Glendale teams lose time after time after time has killed my ability to have "faith" in my team to win the ONE game I'd like them to win each and every season. Maybe it'll happen, but I doubt it will.
