it looks like six schools are dropping 11-man football and one coop is adding 11-man football. Lots of talk about new classification system and now they check enrollment every year instead of two-year cycles. But if they keep class 5 as the catch all , the following schools(again based on this years enrollment) would change classes.
Moving from class 5 to class 4 would be FZS, Webster Groves, Liberty Wentzville, Willard and Glendale.
From class 4 to Class 3 - Sullivan, Lincoln Prep, Kirksville, Jennings, st. Joe Lafayette
Class 3 to Class 2 - St. Pius X(kc), Christian, Wright City, Seneca, Kennett
And class 2 to class 1 - South Callaway, Monroe City, Sarcoxie, Lexington, Caruthersville

Of course, most of the districts in each class would also be realigned.

Can we just go back to 5 Classes?

You are correct or close to it. Awesome that the two classes with the most kids and resources compete against half the competition as everyone else and play less games. Everyone should play less games. IMO. Reclassification should happen now if for any reason that everyone plays by somewhat the same rules. Still ridiculous!

Good point about the biggest schools, whether in class 6 or getting a bye in Class 5, play a game less than the smaller schools. Doesn’t make sense does it?

Jeff city will be dropping in enrollment with new school opening with half the kids in this years 9th and 8th grade classes. The new school will open as well so not sure how that will affect things

I believe Jeff City will move from Class 6 to Class 5 with Capital City HS opening in August.

Can we just go back to 5 Classes?

Or go to seven and even out the size differentials. Either way, having a dumping class with just 51 to 46 schools or less and another with 32 schools isn't right when Class 4 has 64 teams, the bottom teams at 698 students playing schools with 1,260 students.

They should put 48 teams in Classes 1-3, Class 4 as the catch-all with 94 teams, and then 32 teams in Classes 5-7.

Make class 1 32 teams, Yes the first round there might be some long road trips but there would also be one less playoff game, thus saving those schools money. And since they have less players one less game for them so it would make sense for safety of players going both ways.
Make Class 2 the Catch all, same thing, small schools little budgets eliminate a few games save wear and tear on the bodies. And they get some byes.

If we are wanting to make football safer this would be a good start. Helping those schools with the less players should be getting the byes and less games and save money by possible playing less games. Just a thought.

It's also possible for schools that were at the top of their class last year to move up a class if they have increased enrollment, since enrollment is recalculated every year.

St. Luis X(kc) ????? Is there a new school in town ?

they recruit from all over the state - KC to st. louis... typo/brainfart - sorry... St. Pius X - Kansas City

The plan that will be voted on in April or May is to stay status quo or, keep 64 Class 1, and 53 2 thru 6 (obviously the 53 is from last years numbers, should change with 8 man changes). This keeps the percentage from smallest in each class to lowest in each class as equal as possible. They actually have proposals for every sport, also ways in which private schools will be dealt with. The AD's have a print out of all of the proposals.

How are they proposing dealing with the private schools?

That will definitely change up things. From what I heard, as far as private schools they may get bumped up a class based on wins, championships, over a certain time frame. That is not just for football, private schools may dominate even more in other sports.

Heard it will be an average of the last 6 years for private schools only. Get points for Championship, runner up and so on all they way down to district champions. If you have a certain amount of points in a given time span they will move up a class possible two. Moving up may occur in one sport like girls basketball if they are dominant and not effect other sports. Supposedly this was recommended by the private schools.

Is this in addition to multiplier or a replacement?

That sounds exactly like what Illinois does

I actually kinda like this. You have a lot of private schools that do not compete and this would ideally put them in the proper class.

My question would be this though. Say you have a program that dominates a class and gets moved up but this is only mediocre. What constitutes moving back down?

I'd assume the six year average of those points would be updated each year. If they fall below the threshold, they are moved back down in class.
