I really wish Odessa would play a team that could challenge them in the regular season. Two years in a row now they haven't been challenged in class 3. I think it would be worth it for them to schedule a class 4 or 5 opponent in KC before the playoffs if the opportunity arises. I look forward to them playing one of those mentioned above.

Liberty looks really good on film in class 6.

Class 5 dark horses would be Grain Valley and Winnetonka. Tonka reminds me of Texas Tech and Air Raid. Fun watching them, but they haven't played anyone. Grain Valley has 24 seniors on the team.

Lutheran north won't play this year most likely. CBC the same thing. Desmet is trying to play.

Nixa at Ozark next week. HUGE rivalry plus both are on the upswing this year. If the Eagles keep this HC who knows what they will do not just this year but well beyond.............

Anything has happened in that series but I think Nixa looks to be a very solid favorite in that one.
ZERO question what will be on my 'puter October 9: Nixa at Webb City. Coaching clinic par excellence!

Hannibal and Helias wouldn't see each other before the championship game?

I was wondering the same thing. I haven’t look at the bracket organization for this year, if it’s even available, but considering that I’m pretty sure that at one time Helias/Hannibal shared the same district.. it would be odd that they wouldn’t meet in the postseason until the title game

Truth is mshsaa doesn't know how to map out districts. Helias should be in Hannibal district.

My Districts

District 1
Central (Cape Girardeau)
Desoto
Festus
Hillsboro
North County
Perryville
Sikeston
Windsor (imperial)

District 2
Affton
Clayton
John Burroughs
MICDS
Pacific
Sullivan
Union

District 3
Parkway North
St Charles
St Charles West
St Dominic
Trinity Catholic
Warrenton

District 4
Fulton
Hannibal
Helias
Kirksville
Mexico
Moberly

District 5
Boliver
Hillcrest
Marshfield
Logan-Rogerville
West Plains

District 6
Carl Junction
Mcdonald County
Monett
Nevada

District 7
Center
East (KCity)
Grandview
Harrisonville
Lincoln College Prep
Raytown South
Van Horn
Warrensburg

District 8
Excelsior Springs
Kearney
layfette (St Joseph)
Marshall
Savannah
Smithville
Winnetonka

So who districts is better mine or Mshsaa?
It doesn't care if there is districts with less teams. We only have 1 team from each district that makes it to the Quarterfinals

Not Odessa's fault that Oak Grove and P Hill have fallen off, and Harrsionville especially.

You haven't done your homework for Class 3: Lutheran North and Blair Oaks would potentially face-off in quarterfinals, Valle Catholic would see either LN/BO in semifinals. Districts 1-4 are all on the left side of the bracket; thus, only ONE of those make it to the Championship Game. Gotta love that rotating bracket!

I did not comment on Class 3............perhaps you mean this for Hannibal?

Oak Grove and Harrisonville are at least respectable this year, Harrisonville has not played to there normal level but they haven't really been a bad team except one year. I have no idea what happened at P hill though

Warrensburg may be able to give them a game this Friday. Oak Grove actually looks considerably better than the past couple of years.

Think they fell off after Coach Smith left.

Class 6: From off the pace comes LIBERTY NORTH. If they rematch their cross town rivals in the Playoffs (provided we have those) I like the Eagles chances.

Odessa added Southern Boone to their schedule this year, SoBoCo is currently ranked #8 in Class 3.
Oak Grove (currently ranked #7 in Class 3) is a conference opponent.

My apologies, it seems I clicked reply on the wrong thread...must have been triggered for a moment! ;)

Nonetheless, those that want Odessa to prove their worth will get it on Friday! Warrensburg is in quarantine so the Bulldogs will now face Maryville!

That may actually be a slight step down in competition this year.

you can’t know that. In the past MSHSAA has mixed up the districts paired odd numbers and even numbers and changed it up some years, so we can assume that it will be 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4, etc... but some years they’ve mixed it up differently so at this point we don’t know what district will face who during the playoffs. You can thank MSHSAA for that.

Actually, I can know that and so can you. The Bracket rotation through 2025, along with the 2020-2021 bracket is all published in the MSHSAA Football Manual...check out pages 22 & 23!

FYI, Odessa’s last 4 regular schedule games are all Class 4 [conference] opponents (Warrensburg, Center, Excelsior, Harrisonville), except now they’ll play Maryville this Friday with Warrensburg in quarantine and it sounds like Center may be on the verge of a full quarantine.

Maryville won't be much of a test. Between some key injuries and some parents not letting their kids go to school. They more like a JV team with small numbers.

Since college kids came back Covid cases and deaths (11) have skyrocketed in Nodaway County.
