THE OZARKS
Now I know there were some of you inquiring as to the status of the Mexican restaurant in Cabool.

Well here’s your answer, it was bought and taken over by Cozumel. I believe they also have restaurants in Grove and…Houston? Or Rogersville? Or somewhere else.

Anyways, Mexican cuisine is alive and well in Cabool, MO.

I forgot to ask, is the field still there with the arrow painted on the wall saying your still in play?

Yes stadium. Use to have a waist high retaining wall. Field was short. You could catch a ball on the wall at that spot and still be in play. Part of the end zone went into wood chip track.

Well the wall there is wayyyyyy higher than waist high. I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I said the wall behind the endzone is at least 15-20 ft high.
There’s a reason it’s nicknamed “The Pit”.

And there is no kind of track whatsoever. All grass all the way across.

Only other stadium I have heard nicknamed "The Pit" was Jackson MO high school. Have you been? Curious how similar/different they are. May have to make the trip to check it out!

I watched some game film that was @ Jackson’s stadium once and had a friend who scouted a game there once, but I’ve never been myself. Yet. Lol.

A unique one that comes to mind for me is Maysville’s stadium. Nicknamed the “Cemetary Bowl”, it’s literally situated between 2 cemeteries that are very visible from the stadium. It’s old and run down, hardly any seating. Most of the fans sat in lawn chairs or on blankets. It’s kind of in a pit as well.
Haven’t been to it in over a decade so it may have had some minor updates but I doubt it.

Then they moved the moved the field or updated it. Old field had a wood chip track around it. Chain link fence on dirt road side. One side of bleachers off of parking lot from main building.

I’ll have to ask but I’m pretty sure they’ve been on the same field for at least 40 years, if not 50, or longer.

I seem to recall somewhere in the back of my mind a story of the cabool field being shifted a little at some point.

I just remember a kid sliding under the fence at Cabool and having to be helped out.... that was years ago..

Yep, kids would get stuck under that fence. Also was a garage not far behind south field goal that always got hit on pat.

At Cabool the endzone used to run right into the retaining wall, so that the northeast corner of the endzone was cut off. But they did slide the field to the west and away from the wall. I wanna say they did that when I was in HS so maybe like 06 or so.

And to MoSooner's point, I have seen multiple kids get stuck under the fence 😅
