I remember the good old days when this game would have week's worth of page after page on here of breakdowns, comparisons, predictions, arguments, taunting, and putdowns. Here we are five days before this old rivalry game and crickets.

Webb had a few breakdowns on defense last year that Ctown could take advantage of but Webb's offense is pretty hard to stop right now.

Records and talent levels can be thrown out for this game.
WC is an enormous mental block for Carthage. Confidence and good coaching in this game matters more than anything else for CHS.
If they can have those 2 things, it'll be a good one.

Following the typical schedule, Carthage isn't due to beat Webb City again until around 2027. Having said that - Webb's defense does look a little suspect to me still. But I don't see Carthage's defense stopping WC's offense with any regularity.

Carthage has looked pretty dodgy at times this season except for Friday vs Neosho who is arguably the weakest team in the COC this year. Webb City appears to be able to score at will against anyone. However they lost to Joplin (who lost to Ozark) and gave up 4 touchdowns to Republic. Maybe Republic is better than I realize. So there is good reason to look for a good game.

But I think the biggest factor is that Carthage always wants this game so bad they become their own worst enemy. Seems like they often deviate from what they are really good at in an effort to do something Webb City isn't expecting. But it never really works out. What often happens is Carthage will hang until around half, then something will happen and they suddenly are in a hole they can't escape and they just collapse. But who knows.

Looking forward to it!

I think for the most part this game has lost it's luster this year because according to those from Nixa and Ozark areat it is just going to settle third place in the conference. The Nixa Ozark game is the one that will be for the conference title.....Well according to those from the snooze leader.

Give us the Backyard Brawl. Right. Now.
The Backyard Brawl is typically one of the can't-miss high school football nights of the season.

And this year's edition might be the hottest ticket in town.

The Week 6 matchup will be highly anticipated with the way both Nixa and Ozark are playing right now.

During Week 2, Nixa was the one who pulled off the win over Joplin. It was Ozark's turn in Week 3.

Week 1 was obviously a fluke now. Last week against Republic, Webb D gave up on their assignments and that's how the Tigers got behind them for those long scores. Still pretty inexperienced but since it happened last week, Coaches will hit that hard this week and I don't expect to see those same mistakes. As long as Webb is around, Nixa and Ozark need to be worried about them than each other.

Lol stranger things have happened but the COC coming down to Ozark v Nixa?? They are delusional if they think Webb City is a punching bag this year just because they lost to Joplin in week 1. Ozark also lost in week 1 but to Carthage and in spite of enjoying a 4 or 5 turnover advantage.

I'm sure Ozark and Nixa is usually a fun game, they are right next to each other. Like Webb and CJ or Carthage. And it would be a huge game if they were both the lone undefeated teams late in the season. But Ozark already lost to Carthage and Nixa won't have played Carthage. They will have both lost to Webb City by then.

Carthage may have trouble dressing out 11 kids Friday night

Well I think Nixa and Ozark have plenty to be excited about. That said it is hard to assume that Ozark and Nixa will decided they COC when Ozark already lost to Carthage.

I was impressed with Nixa, especially their defense. I think they'll give Carthage and Webb a good fight.

I agree. Nixa does look good and I could see them in a multi way tie for first by beating Carthage. And they very well give WC a fight too. But I just don't think Ozark is in the club yet.

I agree on Ozark, they're definitely improved, but not enough to take down Webb. I think Nixa matches up pretty well with Carthage and Webb. Nixa has the best run defense that I've seen so far. They get to the ball fast and can tackle.

What I've been told - even by C-town fans that the tigers are to mistake prone this year to beat WC. The QB has been fumbling way to often and their defense is very suspect in stopping WC's running game and then JRod showed last week that if he sees that their d-backs are weak, he'll throw the ball. He'll do it early and keep doing it, which then opens up Weathers to run fast and long. WC's defense has been a little suspect - they are still out a d-back and last week they got one back and he was the first one to get burnt because he broke down and came up too soon to make something happen. I don't see that happening this Friday night. When it comes to Ozark and Nixa: Webb has them back to back. Nixa at Webb and Ozark there. By then one of them will have lost or lost again. Nixa has yet played Carthage and so, even with the COC's weird scheduling this fall, things could change over the next few weeks quickly.

Looks like we won't find out unless the game is rescheduled somehow but yes I pretty much agree with what you are saying. Carlton doesn't seem to have the spark he had the last 2 years. Not sure what is going on there, I've heard some weird things.

Webb's defense, yes it may not be the typical iron wall, but it doesn't need to be if Carthage fumbles the ball 2 out of 3 possessions.

Carthage defense has been very good at times and made some big plays when needed but overall struggled to stop Ozark running and basically just watched CJ pass wherever they wanted most of the game.

Again we'll never know but they just don't look like a team that is going to beat Webb City. Now, if you took the same players and put them in different uniforms and changed the name on the schedule then maybe Carthage would have a decent chance.

Bummed that we won't get to see what happens.
