If Mt.Vernon just had 1 post player they would be really good. Getting killed on the boards. Stokes is breaking the press easy by herself. She is so quick!

Her and Emma Compton are the two fastest players in the area with the ball. Not a great idea to press mt Vernon

46-42 mt Vernon ahead after 3. They kept a lid on Yates and Fullerton that quarter

Seems like Mount Vernon is doing the same thing to Carthage that they did to CJ. Both were close games until near the end of the 3rd quarter but Mount Vernon pulled away in the 4th.

Carthage needs their press to create easy shot to be successful. Their press didn’t create any turnovers tonight as Stokes just weaved through it every time down.

Both teams played well for 3 quarters. Carthage press was not effective and appeared to run them down as the game got into the 4th. Having a weak bench created too many turnovers playing a solid team like Mt Vernon. Carthage lost a Senior starter Thursday night to a knee injury. May have some impact on upcoming games if in foul trouble.

Again, I don't think it's smart to try and press Mt Vernon, with Stokes and Johnston who are both faster than most players - hell, Stokes is faster than anyone - and excel in transition. Only way to beat them is to get back on D, don't let Stokes drive left in half court, and don't leave her or Johnston open from 3. Easier said than done I know... After the top 3 players, they drop off pretty quick.
