Vianney freshman Carteare Gordon received an offer from Mizzou today, according to Coach Kevin Walsh.

Last week Gordon was named to the USA Basketball Junior National Team.

Webster Groves frosh guard Courtney Ramey was also offered by the Tigers.

Add another freshman, Tolton's Jontay Porter, to the list of Mizzou offerees.

Hope Sikeston's Fred Thatch is next.

So they get dogged for not recruiting Missouri players and now they're offering to freshmen?

Offering three in-state freshmen is unprecedented, but I'm all for it. Wish they'd make it 4 with Thatch.

Offering freshmen takes some projecting, but being early gives Mizzou an advantage. Right now, I'd rate Gordon and Thatch as being highly likely to be impact players, and there's reason to think that Ramey and Porter will get there, too.

At the very least, this will get in-state basketball fans talking about the program, and that's not a bad thing.

Do they have to offer Porter since his dad works for the university? They could bring him in and use the scholarship on Thatch?

Not 100% sure...but don't think they have to use a scholly. Free tuition for immediate family members of full-time university employees...I think.

All I know is that there are a lot of kids that will be very talented in the years to come and I believe some will land at MU. It is getting so tough for kids to find places to play at the college level, no matter if it is NAIA or NCAA 1.

Looks like they offered Thatch earlier today.

All good offers I suppose but you sure hafta wait a long to time to find out if they'll come.
