Carthage looked more athletic early but now that CJ has more confidence they look more even.
Officiating has been pretty one sided but Carlton (amd the rest of the team) looks like he's crumbling under the pressure and the line play has been horrendous.
Carthage maybe looked better at first, but cj is firing on all cylinders now and playing with excitement once they've found their passing game. Carthage has no answer for it, meanwhile the dog defense is completely smothering everything carthage tries. Carthage already looks defeated, but well see how they respond getting the ball after half!
Refs have called about 300 yards in penalties on both teams. Also a few delayed calls and multiple erroneous flags thrown. So that has added some frustration to the mix as well.

Once the Carthage O-Line stops holding, if they can, the penalties should start to favor Carthage rather than the basically even number of flags we’ve seen in the first half.
CJ much improved. They, Kickapoo and Nixa look like the most improved teams in SWMO among the large classes through the early going.
Strange but entertaining game. Both teams could feel good about some things but both had issues as well.
For CJ - having a 5 turnover advantage and still losing is rough. However most people didn't give them a chance and they gave Carthage all they could handle. They looked like a confident and talented team, much improved over the last couple years.
For Carthage obviously the turnovers were bad, a continued theme from week 1 that I hope they fix asap. But it was impressive how they didn't give up and came back to narrowly take this game, in spite of their run game smothered and not having a ton of success passing either. Defense was pretty good especially in the second half. I believe they have yet to allow a second half score. Carthage line looked quite a bit larger than CJ's, but it didn't seem to matter.
I don't think I've ever heard a crowd yell at the refs as much as when the clock stopped and remained stopped for quite awhile after Carthage sacked Baker on that last possession when the game was hinging on the clock.
Of course there is also the dynamic that CJ's QB actually lives in Carthage and is the son of Carthage superintendent.
