I saw the talk about that on the Cards website but Mo also said he expected their payroll to be less than 2020 so I didn't see how it could happen. Just saw it on the Cape sports news so it must be a done deal. 😳Did not see that coming!
Just saw on ESPN that Colorado will receive multiple players and they will send the Cards $50 million to help with Arenado's salary. Going to be interesting to see who is on the list of several players going to Colorado. I'm guessing Cmart and some of the Bird's young outfielders, surely has to be a young pitcher or two thrown in there too. I hope Edman is not on the list but I figure Carp is going back to 2nd base so who knows. Looks like the Cards will be pretty dang good at the corners offensively and defensively.I saw the talk about that on the Cards website but Mo also said he expected their payroll to be less than 2020 so I didn't see how it could happen. Looks like just goober and some low level minor leaguers. His road splits should give you some pause. He's more like a a 260, 330, 20 home run, 80 RBI guy away from Coors. But he's also an elite defender and pretty much takes Marp out of the lineup. Can we resign Wong now And slide Edman to left field? That way only hafta watch one crappy OFer instead of two or three.

Agreed on all of that. My fear is they're not going to resign Wong. Seems like a done deal. It's insane, but that's the road they're on. I'd say yes on Gorman to the OF. If memory serves, he doesn't project as a plus defender at 3B. I'd honestly rather spend the money on Wong than Molina at this point. I could be way wrong, but I just don't think the value is there for Molina.IF we resign Wong and slide Edman to left, Carlson to right w/ Bader or center w/ O'Neill that's a much better outfield than it could have been I think. As long as Marp is out of the lineup and Fowler is pushed as well I can live with Bader/O'Neill splitting the 3rd OF spot.
Long term thought... can Gorman play LF or RF? Would it be worth moving him some to outfield to move into the 3rd OF spot with Edman and Carlson?
Do you really think adding Arenado gets them what they need to compete for a WS? They're better, no doubt. But IMHO, it basically just moves them to the head of the Central.Wong is gone! The Birds will really be free to improve the club after this year because of the payroll flexibility they will have. Great trade for this season and super great trade for their future! Go Birds! I've gone from same old Birds being satisfied to compete in the Central to damn the Birds are in it to win it!
Molina's value goes far beyond blocking pitches in the dirt, throwing out runners or hitting well. He can help a lot of other guys be better too and that's not just pitchers.Agreed on all of that. Oh I get it. He's just at the point that his production could take a drastic turn. It's already evident he's aging both offensively and defensively. And if he'd sign a 1 yr deal, I'd be hard-pressed to argue it. But man, two years is tough. Heck, let him retire and hire him to coach. I'm good with that. Arenado takes one glaring hole out of the lineup. There's still three, and potentially four, pretty rough spots with Molina, and all three OF spots. Problem with Molina, there's certainly no guarantee Kizner is an upgrade.Molina's value goes far beyond blocking pitches in the dirt, throwing out runners or hitting well. Looks like a better deal than I thought it would be. Gomber is the only one going to the Rockies that I've ever even heard of and they get him at least 2 years and the Cards get some money for more than one year for his salary. I'm bettin he'll wanna stay once he gets there.Oh I get it. He's just at the point that his production could take a drastic turn. It's already evident he's aging both offensively and defensively. My bad and on saying they get him for 2 years for sure. They added a year on the end of his contract but he still has the opt out for 21 and 22. After his interview it sounds like the opt out years won't come into play, he say he wants stay for a long time.Looks like a better deal than I thought it would be. Card's website says Edman will be their 2nd baseman, did MLB finally say there will be a DH in the NL? I haven't seen any announcement on that yet.My bad and on saying they get him for 2 years for sure. They added a year on the end of his contract but he still has the opt out for 21 and 22.
