6 1/2 games out with over 2 months left in the regular season and seem to be on the upswing. Cubs playing about .500 ball since their ridiculous start. I guess we'll see if a closer is the piece they needed to put them over the top this year.

A win over a closer than hadn't blown a save in a year and 52 chances last night and another one over a guy that was 27-1 at home. Edging toward 10 games over and doing this with Carp on the DL. Can't get any help in the standings from the south siders, still 6 1/2 games back. 
It'll be interesting to see if the hype and pressure get to the Cubbies down the stretch. It's a lot harder to finish things off when everyone expects you to. The Cards are have overcame quite a bit to even still be in the race. They appear to be picking up steam. If they could just get it going at home they still have a good chance to get in. It's anyone's game then.
We are back in the wildcard as of today. We've had 3 series in a row now against potential wild card teams. These are important games and we need to make sure to keep it going against the Marlins.
I can't think about settling for a wild card spot only 6 1/2 out with this much time left. I'll take any kind of playoff spot and see what happens but the division ain't over yet. After their hot start the Cubs have been pretty average. Picking up the big lefty to close helps for sure but you have get to him for that help. So they've beat up on their neighbors, maybe somebody in the division can get to em and see if they can stand the heat.
