According the Cards website. They traded AA pitcher Sam Gaviglio to the Mariners for Kelly. He is a switch hitter that hit .263 with 15 HR's and 80 RBI in 134 games with AAA Tacoma last season. 14 of his 15 HR's came from the left side. He hit .378 with 7 HR's with risp. Doesn't say what his best position is or how many spots he can play.

We should bring back Garry Templeton, Tony Scott and Jerry Mumphrey so we can load up on switch hitters.
Maybe throw in Simmons, Reggie Smith, Ozzie, Tommy, and Willie. Berkman and Beltran can pinch hit.

That's what I was thinkin vb, sounds like he's a switch hitter with all his pop from the left side. Where have we seen that before? For a GM whose main interest this offseason was a RH power bat he sure hasn't come up with any yet. Still a long time til ST and I know he has some money to spend and a little trade bait still available.

I wonder where he is going to play this big right handed bat. Adams could be trade bait I guess because if they keep him seems to me he'll play against RH pitching.

I think the plan was to get a RH bat to platoon at 1st base and have some pop off the bench from either side as the situation called for. The problem is he ain't finding much available. I guess Grichuk or Piscotty will have to be the RH pinch hitters with Bourjos in there when there is less need for the long ball and late game defense. Maybe they could still find a backup catcher with some pop and let Yadi stand up straight at 1st base against lefties.

Using Yadi at first makes since especially against teams that don't run. Oh wait that would be the Cardinals
