Too early to tell really, but there are some things that look better. Last year Clark was about the only option to create any offense when someone had to get their own. This year, he seems to be about fourth on that list. Walton, Phillips, and Isabell (when he's not doing something INSANELY stupid to put himself on the bench) all look capable of that this season. Puryear has been far better on offense than I expected. Gant is going to have to be much better than he has been in the first two games if MU is going to be much better though. Their post play has got to be at least competent enough offensively to create space for their guards to play in. And I don't think they can be that unless Gant shows some game on offense. Allen and Woods have great bounce and energy, but it's obvious Puryear and Gant are going to have to score from the post. I'm still not sure how they'll be able to keep decent to good teams from getting the ball deep on offense. That said, there sure are signs of improvement. Offense has more flow (even on a night when they struggled to shoot from the perimeter like against UMES) and guys seem more willing to share the ball. Should lead to fewer turnovers and less horrible shot selection. Mark it down, if Gant and Isabell are among the best players in January, this team will be very competitive in the SEC.
