Cabool @ Willow/Thayer @ Liberty

I find this game interesting. I don’t have a dog in the fight this year, but it’ll be the first true test to see if Cabools 2-0 is legit. They almost turbo-ed Doniphan, a first year varsity program(Class 3 I believe) and did turbo Chaffee last week, Cabool was favored in that game, but still.

Coach Mac has taken the helm back. He was the head coach the last time Cabool won districts in 2007(the year they beat Mtn Grove in Sectionals in OT on a field goal I believe? Where you at realray?)

He was also an assistant at willow back when Matt Perkins took over the Bears program.

This game is a rivalry in my mind and always seems to get a chippy and should be a super competitive atmosphere.

We’ve also got Thayer at Liberty this week as well, that is definitely going to be the game of the week for the SCA. The winner will be the favorite to take the SCA crown. It’s always a dogfight between these two.

I would say Liberty is favored after almost knocking off bolivar last week and blowing out Richmond in week one, but a lot is going to depend upon how stout Thayers defensive backfield is.

Thoughts? This game will play a big role for both teams as far as district seeding as well as rankings.

I think Liberty is much improved over last year, a year in which they almost beat Thayer despite having one of their worst seasons in a decade. Thayer is still solid however, I would expect a close but think Liberty will win by 1-2tds. They have improved more than Thayer IMO and I look for them to retake the SCA crown this year.
